'A quiet new-build estate with only a scattering of people around'

The area has been described as a quiet, new-build estate with only a small scattering of people walking around.

Our reporter Oprah Flash says that considering it’s the school holidays it’s surprising that no children are out playing.

She added that neighbours have spoken about being shocked that something like that has happened in an area like this.

I’ve been following this via the police’s social media, so worrying and also so very odd. There is a great deal that isn’t being said and even the photo is strange, it is so sad if that is the best photo that could be found of this little boy.

The mother doesn’t seem to be considered a missing person in her own right, only in relation to the whereabouts and safety of her son. Or at least that’s what the reporting seems to indicate IMO.

'The initial hours after a child disappears are crucial'

Statistics show that the initial hours after a child disappears are crucial, according to the Child Rescue Alert website.

A spokesman said:

A sighting by a member of the public can lead to the safe recovery of the child.

If your child went missing wouldn’t you want the world to stop and look for them?

The charity Missing People exists to offer a lifeline when someone disappears.

With the help of its publicity partners the charity searches for those who are missing and at risk, and provides specialised 24 hour support to help ease the heartache and confusion for families left behind.

So happy the little one and his mum are safe and found. My mind was going to terrible places. So glad to be wrong!
