OMG Sally !!!!!!

TBH I am sorry that you had to have her stalking you. I also thinks she is a very scary individual and have said so before, just by looking at her face in the photos!
It's complicated, but I am sure she is mentally ill, one PD or another and we have done many a post on this in thread 1.
I was even researching "erotomania" type stuff - women who get obsessions and stalk blokes as well as posting about Walter Mitty posts about the lying teen girl everyone knows a version of.
What is mind blowing in your post is the degree to which she was willing to transgress, to get what she wanted - in the same bed, then the threats.

We did say here about toxic combos, who feed off each other. This case is not a classic DV one in the sense that JG and BB were supplying each others twisted needs.
It might as well have been an S & M crazy reln. Instead small children were the victims .

Thanks Sally. Unbelievable, but not, having seen her testify.

The jury did not know that before meeting Gray, Butler was involved in another violent relationship with Hannah Hillman, 32.

She told how his eyes would turn ‘smaller and black’ and he would almost foam at the mouth before meting out his savage beatings – once with an iron bar.

I'm catching up. SO so pleased with the verdict.

The video in the link is quite telling.

The first time Butler looked after baby Ellie she suffered radiator burns to her head and hand.

The next time he was alone with her, on 15 February 2007, she was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries that Butler was accused of causing by violently shaking her.

How ON EARTH did the previous conviction get quashed?! Especially if the courts knew this?

She told how his eyes would turn ‘smaller and black’ and he would almost foam at the mouth before meting out his savage beatings – once with an iron bar.

Hillman, who was with Butler in 2004 and 2005, said he would get a look of ‘pure evil’ and feared he would kill her when he lost his rag.

Will there be an enquiry into Hogg?

In an emotional outburst in court, Ellie’s grandfather Neal Gray is said to have warned her: ‘You will have blood on your hands.’

It can now be revealed Hogg dismissed evidence of domestic abuse, glossed over convictions for violence and overlooked Butler and Gray’s admitted lies.

Butler was jailed in July 2001 for attempted robbery and intimidating witnesses and by 2006 had committed a string of drunken attacks on victims including Hillman.
wtf?! This all gets more and more horrific

In desperate internet searches not shown to the jury, Gray revealed how Butler broke her nose and stabbed her in the leg when she was pregnant.

Butler beat her on her birthday and a work colleague described seeing a ‘Tom and Jerry’ type lump on her forehead the following day.

He even attacked her in hospital where she had used a fake name to escape his domestic violence.

Gray was also subjected to an almost constant tirade of vile text messages that police said in itself amounted to a ‘very serious form of abuse’.

speechless

Obedient Gray nodded along and even rewarded him with mini high fives as he returned to the dock during breaks in the court day.
HIGH FIVES?!

Jennie Gray, also 36, who has appeared as an extra in EastEnders and The Bill,
Sorry found this funny.

Just jaw dropping, what a horrific pair

RSBM.

Linda died on the first day of the murder trial and Neal was understood to be too ill to give evidence. But the earlier statement recorded their pain at losing Ellie, saying: “Our lives have changed so dramatically due to the impact and shock and horror of this event that we struggle every day to deal with the reality of the death of our dear granddaughter Ellie. She was our shining light.

Crying :(

She would respond by telling him she loved him and would put him before everyone, including the children. In one, she said she would “rather jump off a skyscraper” than disturb his sleep.
So so disturbing

Timeline from the Guardian:

June 2010
Butler pleads guilty to battering a man in a kebab shop in Wimbledon.

June 2010
Butler’s conviction is quashed. Judges find Ellie’s full recovery “casts doubt on a severe shaking syndrome”, following inclusion of new scientific evidence.

What the hell?! Two court appearances in the same month for violence and they quashed the conviction?!

I am wondering if BB's dad was there supporting him at trial, as I note from the Guardian article that BB WAS in touch with his dad after all.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/jun/21/ben-butler-violent-posed-doting-family-man

Text messages between Butler and Gray sent in the months before Ellie’s murder gave an insight to jurors into their toxic, abusive lives. In one exchange, Butler refers to Ellie’s younger sibling as an “absolute ****”.

Texting Gray about an incident when the child wet themselves, he said: “****ing angry with [redacted]. Did it in front of my dad and weed too. Not happy at all.

“I want u to start being alot toughter. [redacted] been an abs ****..I want to knw y [redacted] pissrd in front of dad and sat there sulking whole ****ing time. No mre i **** u not”

Gray replies: “I think is terrible so I am going to get tough.”

It also seems as if we got this wrong, this text was about YD, not Ellie.

Hello
I’m a long time lurker on this thread (and no.1) and I would like to say thank you to Tortoise and Michelle for their reports from court, and to all posters for their considered and thoughtful posts.
In common with everyone on here, I’ve been appalled at the treatment of Ellie and her sister, and in awe of Neal who fought so hard for Ellie. I do wonder, and have done throughout, why BB and JG went to such lengths to get the girls back, only to treat them so horrendously. Was it because the reality of small children was far harder than they ever expected? Or was it because BB thought that the girls were “his” and he should have them and treat them as he wished (as with JG).
The sentences aren’t enough for what he put Ellie, her sister and their grandparents through.

Butler conducted his testimony during the trial with rarely seen aggression, swearing profusely throughout, dismissing the prosecution as “the Chuckle Brothers”, experts as “medical mafia” and frequently checking the jury for reaction.

Gray sat in the dock, egging him on, nodding her head furiously, and mouthing: “I love you.” By contrast, when she gave testimony, he sat with his head bowed, showing little interest in her story.

I see it was right about the broken nose too!

He also stood to make a lot of money from getting his daughters back after being "wrongly convicted". He was suing police and I think others for the "miscarriage of justice".

New article in the Guardian:

“I want u to start being alot toughter. [redacted] been an abs c**t..I want to knw y [redacted] pissrd in front of dad and sat there sulking whole ****ing time. No mre i **** u not.”

So this was about the younger child? Urgh, just shaking my head
