Staffordshire Police are keen to learn the current whereabouts of missing man George Horton, from Hednesford, Cannock.

They are appealing to the public to help in the search for the 57-year-old, who was last seen on the morning of January 3.

Officers tweeted today at 12.23am: "We need your help to find 57-year-old George Horton, from Hednesford, Cannock.

"He was last seen in the morning of January 3. Please call 101 quoting incident 539 of 04/01/22."

A body has been found in the search for a 57-year-old man who vanished in Staffordshire.

Cops launched an urgent appeal for help after George Horton went missing earlier this week.

But Staffordshire Police has now confirmed it has called of its search after a body - believed to be Mr Horton - was uncovered.

The body was found in Cannock just after 11am today, the force said.

Detective Inspector Richard Dancey, of the force’s southern investigation team, said: "George’s family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this very difficult time..."

Formal identification is due to take place but the death is not being treated as suspicious.
