UK - Girl, 4, injured in attempted murder-suicide, Cornwall, 28 May 2015

A man has died of internal injuries and a young girl has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after an 'incident' in Whitecross, near Polruan, Cornwall. Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Just for information - there are some large cliffs by the coast in this area.

Really don't like the sound of this. If there had been a terrible accident, police wouldn't be calling it an incident, in my opinion.

Police were called to an address, so this isn't people going off a cliff. This article says it is the young girl who has serious internal injuries, and she and the 40-year-old man are 'known to each other'.

The child was stabbed. A knife's been recovered from the scene, it's believed.

I wonder if this will turn out to be another dreadful custody dispute/marital breakup gone wrong?

Man named as Stephen Coops aged 40.

"In 2011 Coops deliberately crashed his car at 60mph in Pembrokeshire in an attempt to kill himself. But after failing, he admitted dangerous driving and was detained under the Mental Health Act"

I just read in The Sun (no I didn't buy it!) that in the crash 4 years ago he had "tried to wipe out his entire family". Apparently they - him, wife, 3 kids - were driving somewhere on holiday and he deliberately crashed at 60mph. All survived, he was detained under MHA.

Awful to say but it sounds like they will be safer without him. Horrible situation.
