Officers are appealing for information to trace Gyln Smith who was last seen in the Highlands almost three weeks ago.

The 76-year-old from Cambridgeshire is thought to have been on a walking tour of the north of Scotland when he was last seen in the Oykel Bridge area of Sutherland on Sunday, 24 April, 2022.

Glyn hasn’t been in contact with family since and they are becoming increasingly concerned. He also failed to meet with a group of friends for a planned trip.

Glyn is described as white, 5ft 6in tall and of slim build. When he was last seen it’s believed he was wearing outdoor type clothing and carrying a rucksack.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen Glyn since Sunday, 24 April, 2022 is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2232 of 12 May, 2022.

Concerns are growing for a missing pensioner who has been missing for nearly three weeks after setting off on a walking tour of the Highlands.

Officers are appealing for information to trace Gyln Smith, from Cambridgeshire, who was last seen in the Oykel Bridge area of Sutherland on Sunday, 24 April.

The 76-year-old hasn’t been in contact with family since and they are becoming increasingly concerned.

He also failed to meet with a group of friends for a planned trip.

 
A mountain rescue team and search and rescue dogs have been brought in to join the hunt for a pensioner who went missing on a walking tour in the Highlands three weeks ago.

Police are continuing to appeal for information to trace 76-year-old Glyn Smith who is originally from Cambridgeshire.

He is thought to have been on a walking tour of the north of Scotland when he was last seen in the Oykel Bridge area of Sutherland on Sunday, April 24.

Over the weekend, Assynt Mountain Rescue were tasked alongside Search and Rescue Dog Association to assist in the search on the Cape Wrath Trail, north of Ben More Lodge.

Mr Smith is described as white, 5ft 6in tall and of slim build.

When he was last seen it’s believed he was wearing outdoor type clothing and carrying a rucksack.

Assynt Mountain Rescue have urged anyone who was walking to trail around the time he went missing to contact police with any information about Mr Smith they may have.

Glyn is known to use a green one person tent while travelling.

The area is likely to be busy this weekend with those taking part in the Cape Wrath Ultra marathon and we would urge everyone to be vigilant and report anything of note to us.

I'm not judging as such, but I will say that going on a walking tour of the Highlands of Scotland when you're starting to suffer from dementia isn't the best idea.....
 
Still missing after nearly three years. Glyn was one of a cluster of men who went missing in the highlands in the first half of 2022 and still haven't been found, including Neil Skinner at Loch Dochard, Finn Creaney at Loch Naver, and Derek Hepburn at Loch Mullardoch.
