The little sister of a man missing from Thamesmead since the late 1980s has appealed for the public's help in finding him on his 54th birthday.

Police have joined the appeal, releasing an image of what he might look like today after the sister said would "give everything to have my big brother back home or find out what happened to him."

"We know there were two unconfirmed sightings of Ian over ten years ago but since then the trail has gone cold...
..We are urging anyone who knows where he might be or believes they have seen him at any point over recent years to get in touch with us."

There was no trace of Ian despite the rest of his possessions, including his clothes, wallet and keys all being in the house
Ian’s father immediately reported his son as missing to police and enquiries were made to try and find him.

Without trying to racial stereotype... there's a good chance Ian may be walking around living a new life unbeknown to any of us, the phrase "black don't crack" springs to mind.

Some of my best friends are Jamaican and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference sometimes between the age of 20-50.

Ian Bushell is very likely to be Amandla Man, a young black Doe who washed up in the Bristol Channel a couple of weeks after Bushell was last seen.

There are no other unidentified or missing young black men I can find missing from 1988 at all, let alone from such a close date.

Amandla Man was wearing a Boys Own jacket which he only could have bought from the Boys Own crew in London area - these were not mass produced or widely available.

He likely came to Bristol for an event and somehow ended up in the river which would have been very full at the time. Bodies get washed out into the Bristol Channel.

There is also a suicide Bridge in Bristol.

Based on the Boys Own jacket and the ANC Amandla T-shirt though I believe he was more likely to be attending big gig that went on in Bristol on 30th January 1988. It was in Temple Meads so near the River Avon and it was a big Anti-apartheid gig featuring The Wild Bunch, City Rockers and others, perhaps the t-shirt was even bought there.
