Members of the public are being asked to help police located a missing Sheffield man, as officers become ‘increasingly concerned for his welfare’.

20-year-old James was last seen at his home address in the Manor and Arbourthorne area of the city yesterday (Sunday, September 4), and is believed to have left the property between 7am and 11.30am.

Launching the appeal today (Monday, September 5), a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “James is white and described as 5ft 11in tall, of skinny build, with short light brown hair. He is believed to be in a motorcycle jacket and jeans, with black trainers.

“His motorbike - a black Yamaha NT03, registration number LC59 NYT – is also gone.”

MISSING: Have you seen James?

Our officers searching for missing James from Sheffield continue to appeal for any information which might help us find him.

James, 20, was last seen on Sunday 4 September in the Manor area. Officers are growing increasingly concerned for James’ welfare- can you help us?

James is known to frequent the Peak District and the Lake District. Officers believe he may have travelled there on his bike.

If you think you have seen James, please call 101.

I read that his motorcycle is unlikely to be detected by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, as it only has a rear-facing number plate. West Yorkshire and Cumbria police forces are also sharing the appeal. Hopefully he will simply be on a road trip and will be back home soon.

I hope this chap is alright. It's really not that far to drive into total rural nothingness from Manor, and the signal can get fairly spotty out there despite the popularity of the Peaks.

Some rough and temperamental weather the last few days, too.

Yes, also worrying his phone is dead, and there has been no sighting at all since he was last seen at home.

Police say he may have travelled to the Peak or Lake District, but did he mention to anyone that was his intention? Or did he just up and leave on Sunday morning suddenly?

His girlfriend's sister has said his phone last pinged in the Norton, Sheffield area, but is now dead.

He lives on Hurlfield Road, only about 10 mins from Norton, so not a distance. There does seem to be a big park area - Graves Park - in area.

In the early hours near Norton it's probable he was on the Parkway rather than taking a more direct route on the map - the area is very hilly and I can't imagine it would be pleasant to ride a motorbike directly through all those areas! Pure speculation but the easiest route for him to take would have been from Manor Top through Gleadless then Herdings, etc.

Bumpy journey, otherwise. Elevation at Manor Top is 200m, Meersbrook and Heeley next door can get <100m in places.

(Source: used to live in Arbourthorne. Hell of a view from up there.)

That might be, I don't know, only where it is said his phone last pinged. I was more alluding to the fact that some 15 or 20 hours later he was still no more than maybe 10 or 15 minutes away, which kind of rules out his having taken off on a bike jaunt to Lakes or Peaks.

A young man who has been missing from Sheffield since Sunday may have made his way back to the north-east where he grew up.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information to help find James Setterington, 20, who was last seen at his home address in the Manor and Arbourthorne area of the city.

His family are now extending their appeal to Aberdeenshire, where they previously lived, saying that there is a chance James may have headed back to the place he grew up.

In particular he has connections with Fyvie, Turriff and Huntly.

A post made by an administrator of the Remembering James Setterington Facebook group indicates that James died "in what looks like a motorbike related incident".

Remembering James Setterington Facebook page

Found last night Friday by friends of his girlfriend. How awful. I wonder where? I do feel it was likely in that area of Norton, which was where phone last pinged about 20 hours after he left and when it probably ran out of battery.
