The poor family having to wait 9 months and he was so near. RIP Jamie and may his family have closure they need.

POLICE Scotland is being probed over its handling of the search for missing Celtic fan Jamie Cannon.

The force watchdog is investigating after the student bricklayer, 19, was found dead less than two miles from where he was last seen, in an area cops had already combed.

Jamie vanished from his home in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, last May.

His body was discovered nine months later in February.

The Crown Office has now referred the case to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner for Scotland.

A source said: “It’s hard to imagine the pain his family went through trying to find him.

“It’s awful to think he was so close for so long.

"They deserve answers into how he was missed and why it took so long to bring him home.”

Does it seem like a suicide?

Can police be blamed for not finding the body sooner when it is typical of suicide victims and murderers to attempt to hide or disguise death?

Unless it wasn't suicide and he was murdered less than 2 miles from where he was last seen ... autopsy will hopefully provide insight.

The reason being, as quoted above, and bolded by me here:

I wouldn't blame the police for not finding the body sooner.

The area is popular with dog walkers, the fact his body wasn't found sooner is a mystery for many.

Speculation that his body was put there after it had been searched.
