"Jill Brown, 19, went missing on Tuesday 3 January 1978
On Tuesday 3 January 1978, nineteen-year-old Jill Brown set off for work at the laundry in Brooklyn Road, Dovercourt.

It was the first day back after the Christmas holidays. The number one song in the UK was Mull of Kintyre and across the pond, the Bee Gees were asking “How deep is your love?”.

Jill, 5ft 2ins tall with shoulder-length brown hair, was wearing a blue mac. She never arrived for work.

45-years-on and Jill's sisters, Janet and Elisabeth, have never given up hope explaining that Jill 'has never been out of anyone's thoughts'. They hope that one day they will find her and that she will come back into their lives.''

I get the impression from what the police and family have said is that they believe that Brown's disappearance was voluntary and that she has not come to harm. However, the circumstances of her disappearance suggests otherwise to me. I wonder what evidence there is that she is still alive.

''On the anniversary of her disappearance, the sisters shared how Jill took no items with her when she vanished; none of her Christmas presents, clothes or any money. "She took nothing at all with her, it was just like she was going to work", they said.

Janet said: "She was a really quiet girl, she was very homely, and a very early riser. She loved her breakfasts, she'd come down and make herself breakfasts before anyone was up. She liked her time and space as well." Elisabeth said: "She was never a rebel, she was very content at being home."

''Appealing directly to members of the public, they added: "If you know where Jill is, or have any information, no matter how small, that will help us find Jill and bring 45 years’ worth of not knowing to an end, to contact Essex Police. Please, help bring Jill home."

Jill had a rare medical condition and required monthly injections. This condition could apparently sometimes lead to amnesia, which might explain her family thinking she was still out there somewhere.

In 1998, a witness came forward saying he had seen Jill getting into a large lorry. Jill's parents ran a cafe, although I'm not sure if the establishment was popular with long distance lorry drivers.

Can you cite the source for this information about her 'rare medical condition' please?

In early 1998, The Colchester Evening Gazette covered the 20 year anniversary of Jill's disappearance.

On 26th August 1999, Jill's sister mentioned the medical condition in a follow up interview with the Evening Gazette.

Circumstances of Disappearance

Jill's disappearance from her home in Dovercourt, Essex, on the 3 January 1978 was said to be very out of character.
She left as usual for the local launderette where she worked that morning, but she never arrived and there has been no word from her since.
She took nothing with her to indicate she was planning leaving home and most concerning is that
she suffered from a rare illness and needed regular medication which she also left behind.
