The family of Joel McDiarmid, the missing West Lothian man, have issued a desperate plea and said that his disappearance is “completely out of character.”

Ben, Joel’s brother, has urged people on social media to contact the police if they have any information whatsoever.

He wrote: "My brother’s still missing and our family are more worried with each day that passes. It’s completely out of character for Joel to leave without contacting us or his friends.

"If you have any information as to where Joel may be, please, please contact the police straight away.

"Thank you for your help."

On November 19 he wrote: "My brother’s been missing for the past two days and we’re extremely concerned for his welfare.

"If anyone’s seen Joel or thinks they may know where he is please contact the police with any information you have ASAP"

Officers investigating his disappearance today said Joel liked to travel to Edinburgh and Glasgow and that West Lothian division is also working with those forces.

The West Lothian division issued a statement today issuing a description of Joel and urging anyone with information to get in touch.

"He is known to travel by public transport and likes to visit Glasgow and Edinburgh, and we are liaising with our colleagues in these areas too in case he has travelled there."
