UK UK - John, 86, last seen on Castle Road, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, 03 Dec 2024

Warwickshire Police have released dash cam footage which was recorded on the morning John, 86, went missing. It shows him crossing the Castle Road [Kenilworth, Warwickshire].

Police believe John is still either in Kenilworth or in the nearby countryside.

Officers, detectives and dogs are out searching and are getting assistance from the police helicopter when possible.

John is described as around 5'11" tall, of medium build and he may be wearing a navy blue cap, navy blue quilted jacket and navy blue/grey trainers.

- John was last seen at Abbey Fields next to Finham Brook at around 9.20am yesterday morning, 3 December.
- We believe he entered the water but got out again and continued making his way elsewhere.

It looks to me as if the CCTV footage was taken AFTER John had entered the water, and I think it shows John here (link points to Google Earth).

Poor man, how many degrees is it there now? Can’t be warm! I would guess he’s in/under something, trying to get warm/dry, so harder to find. I hope they find him really soon!!

From the photo above, the way he's crossing the road, it almost looks like he's running across.... leg up, swinging his arms out. He looks like he's in a hurry.
He's not on a slow gentle walk.

John Taylor: Search for missing Kenilworth man continues

John Taylor, 86, has been missing since Tuesday morning.

Sadly, Warwickshire Police have reported that officers searching for missing man John Taylor have recovered a body from undergrowth near Kenilworth Castle. His family has been informed. The police are now awaiting formal identification and are continuing to support John's family.

Yesterday the admins of the Help Find John group paused the group "as per the family's request for privacy". I wondered then if that was the pre-cursor to bad news, and it has turned out that way.
