The Clifton Suspension Bridge is traditionally a suicide hotspot, but there are now significant barriers, free phones to the Samaritans and other safety measures. It is also a busy bridge, so the chances of being seen are very high.

The reports are that he was found in the gorge beneath the Clifton Observatory. This means he must have gone over the edge at this point Google Maps or somwhere very nearby.
