Joseph Edward McPartlin, 65, disappeared from his Moffat Road home in Hartlepool last Sunday - from the TeessideLive website. After that, there was absolutely nothing further, neither that he had been found, nor that he was one of the long-term missing persons in the region. Sometimes, when a person is found – alive or dead – there's no further news. In this case, I'm not sure if the man is even still missing. Is there any way to find out? It would be stupid if a person were declared missing here who is no longer missing.

I found the case on Mapthemissing. On this site, I help people search for cases where they have disappeared without a trace, along with their vehicles, or were later found. Most often, they were found in a body of water. The strange thing about Joseph Edward McPartlin is that, apart from the three reports published shortly after his disappearance in 2004, there are no other reports.

Well, he was added to DoeNetwork in 2022, then it appears a photo was added in the time since it was shared here. There are two slightly different articles with the online date of May 15 2013 but they're worded as if they're just after he went missing, so maybe just archived at that time:

I was able to get help finding this article from June 29, 2005 by the Northern Echo. It has the same photo as DN

The family of a grandfather who went missing a year ago have appealed for him to return home in time for his son's wedding next month. Joseph McPartlin, 66, of Owton Manor, Hartlepool, has not been seen since he left home on June 13 last year in his maroon Ford Escort.
For more than a year, his disabled wife, Joan, and four children have hunted everywhere to find the keen pigeon fancier and he has been placed on the National Missing Persons Register.
Last night, both the family and detectives re-issued their appeal to help find him.
Mr McPartlin's son, Allan, who lives only doors away from his parents, in Moffatt Road, Owton Manor, said: "My brother David is getting married on July 16 and we would love him to be at the wedding.
"If he wants to come, he should let us know. It would be a perfect present. We are playing a waiting game.
"We can only hope that dad will come back, but every time I hear that a body has been found somewhere, my stomach is in my mouth."
Mr McPartlin needed crutches to get about, as well as medication for severe pain.
But since his disappearance, police believe he has made no attempt to get medication and has not touched his bank account.
About two weeks after his disappearance, the family found a note pinned to a calendar, which stated the grandfather was upset about various things, but did not explain his intentions.
Last night, Detective Sergeant Mick Wilson said forensic tests have proved that the letter was written by Mr McPartlin.
He said "as time goes on, it's less likely that Mr McPartlin will return safe and well, but we hope."
Anyone who has seen him or his Ford Escord, registration N225 MWT, is asked to call police on (01642) 302126.
More info too.
