*Re-appeal to trace Joy Morgan on her 21st birthday*

We are today (Tuesday, February 12) re-appealing for the public’s help to trace missing Joy Morgan on her 21st birthday.
Joy, a University of Hertfordshire student, is missing from Hatfield.

She has not been seen since the end of December (2018) and was reported missing to police on Thursday, February 7.

Today, Joy’s family made the following appeal:

“We love you, we miss you. Wherever you are, text or call so that we know you are alright. It doesn’t matter what has happened, just come home.”
Joy is described as black, of slim build, around 5ft 5in tall, with black afro-style hair which she often covers with a scarf. She also wears glasses.

She has links to Ilford and Bedfordshire.

Police have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of missing Joy Morgan, who is a student based in Hatfield.

We have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of missing Joy Morgan.
Joy, a University of Hertfordshire student, is missing from Hatfield and was last seen in Ilford on December 26, 2018. She was reported missing to police on Thursday, February 7.

A 40 year old man from London has been arrested and released on bail while enquiries continue.

Joy is described as black, of slim build, around 5ft 5in tall, with black afro-style hair which she often covers with a scarf. She also wears glasses.

Welwyn Hatfield Chief Inspector Tannis Perks said: “This is a complex missing person investigation and we are working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding Joy’s disappearance. Understandably her family are extremely worried about her and are desperate to know that she is OK. I would like to appeal to Joy to get in touch to let us know that she is safe.

“If you have information about Joy’s whereabouts please get in touch on 101. For immediate sightings, call 999 straight away.”

Yesterday (Tuesday, February 12), on her 21st birthday, Joy’s family issued the following appeal:

Twenty-one year old Joy, who studies Midwifery at the University of Hertfordshire, is missing from #Hatfield and was last seen at a church celebration in #Ilford on December 26, 2018. The following day she made contact with coursemates via Whatsapp. She was reported missing to police on Thursday, February 7.

Detective Chief Superintendent Karena Thomas from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “Joy is described as a focused and determined student. She is also an active member of the Hainault Street Church in Ilford, which Joy herself has described as a community that feels like her family.

“Her disappearance is completely out of character and all avenues we have explored to establish her whereabouts so far have come back negative.

“Joy has been missing for over a month and we, along with her family, are growing increasingly concerned for her safety.

“Although we are asking people to think back over the last couple of months, unlike other times of the year we tend to remember what we are doing around the festive season and I am hoping our appeal today may jog some memories and get people really thinking.

“We are remaining really open minded about how and why Joy may have gone missing. She may have opted to take time out and if that is the case I would urge her to make contact with us on 101 or contact the Missing People charity on 116 000 to let us know she is ok. We just want to know that she is safe and well.

“However, we also need to consider the context in which Joy has gone missing and given the sudden nature of her disappearance and the non-contact with friends, family or with fellow worshippers at her church, at this stage, sadly, we have to consider that she may have come to harm.”

As part of the investigation, officers are keen to trace a highly distinctive Honda that Joy regularly travels in (pictured). The vehicle’s owner has been identified and spoken to but it is believed that the vehicle is linked to Joy’s disappearance.

Det Ch Supt Thomas continued: “This is understandably a devastating and worrying time for Joy’s family, made even more poignant by the fact that she should have been celebrating her 21st birthday on Wednesday (February 13). We are supporting Joy’s family with specially trained officers throughout our enquiries.

“Today, I am urging anyone with information about Joy’s whereabouts to get in touch by calling us on the non-emergency number 101. Any information you have, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital in finding out where Joy is.”

This is so strange. Missing for 6 weeks before anyone reported it? I wonder why her classmates or friends from church didn’t wonder where she was?

The owner of the “distinctive car” has been spoken to, yet they are still appealing for info. Is he the one who has been arrested?

Lastly, Libby’s case is at 7 threads, and this hasn’t even reached one page, for obvious reasons....? Can we get some movement and interest on here people please?

Police have released a video of the last moments that missing student Joy Morgan - an Ilford churchgoer - was seen, in the hope it will bring further information to light.

I've only just come across this case, so heartbreaking that it took so long for her to be reported and I would also like to try and get a bit more interest.

Man, this is sad. I can't tell if she was reported missing after six weeks or the police only made their appeal at that time? The optics really don't look great for Joy here, especially as it's described as out of character. Would be interested to know what those last Whatsapp communications were. Most likely inane, but perhaps giving some indication as to her plans for the day.
