Kent police ask for help from forces across the country to help solve Julia James' murder | Daily Mail Online

Chief Constable Alan Pughsley said the force does not know who the killer is, if they are a man or woman, what weapon was used nor what the motive was.

When asked whether the killer had struck before, Chief Constable Pughsley said: 'I hope not.'

Ms James was found bludgeoned to death in woodland with a 'severe traumatic injury' near her home in Snowdown, Kent, on Tuesday, April 27.

The force yesterday expanded their search area around the small village and have been looking for clues at several locations including the woodland.
If they’re really as baffled as they sound, it would imply that they don’t suspect a family member.

The language used is suggestive of a rage killing is it not?
This case is becoming stranger and stranger.

Police had this message to the killer of Julia James:

"I'm absolutely certain, [we will] find you, and I hope that is in the very near future.

"You will never ever get away with this. You have to keep looking over your shoulder and at some stage we will be there to get you."

They also said they're not yet 100% sure of the exact weapon used in the murder.

The area where Julia was found is apparently a popular route for locals walking their dogs or just taking a stroll. It would be a strange location to choose for a drug deal.

I just keep coming back to the ferocity of the attack. The police have emphasised several times that Julia suffered “very significant head injuries”. It sounds like somebody hit her over and over again with extreme force. That sounds like deep hatred of women/sexual deviancy to me, not an interrupted drug dealer or a thwarted dognapper.

BBM

Would it though? It's a secluded spot just off the first main junction of the A2 out of Dover. Well used by locals, but you wouldn't necessarily know that if you weren't local yourself. It might have seemed like the ideal place to pull up in a country lane and swap something from one car boot to another. No one would anticipate an off duty LE officer being there.

Tbh, my own belief is a frenzied, random, possibly misogynistic attack, so I'm playing devil's advocate really, but it's another line of enquiry.

- no motive
-no murder weapon
-possessions not taken, robbery not a motive, in other words
-mid afternoon blatant murder

By now forensics should have been able to identify type and possibly shape of weapon used.
(I'm thinking heavy metal bar because of the words used to describe the damage inflicted upon her)
This is very strange and very disturbing.

Good points, well made.
The 'illegal immigrant' is a stretch and a half.

perhaps it was a Remainer lurking in the bushes.

* tongue in cheek ** not an endorsement of remain or leave *** just being silly as sleep deprived

This morning, an inquest into her death was opened at County Hall in Maidstone, but quickly suspended at the request of a detective inspector.

The court was only told that Julia died of "serious head injuries", but that more tests will be carried out before an official cause of death is submitted.

Are there CCTV cameras in that village and where exactly are they located?

Murder investigation launched in Romford

Not sure if that’s how you post links (sorry).

Just saw this on Twitter, Romford isn’t particularly too far from Kent, stood out to me that both ladies suffered blunt force head trauma and are of a similar age.

Police have issued a picture of a man they want to speak to.

That’s an unusual move!

Reminds me of when they released the CCTV footage in the Lindsay Birbeck case..

Apparently there is a suspect and his photo is being circulated as we speak

That’s an unusual move!

Quite!

Interestingly this was taken the day after Julia was murdered. Is it from another location and someone has identified seeing him in the area? Or did he return to the area.

This sounds very similar, and yet has had no coverage at all. RIP Maria Rawlings.

Doesn't seem like a CCTV image, also doesn't look like it was taken from far away. Perhaps someone walking past secretly snapping a pic?
