The woman has yet to be named and no-one has been arrested.

Warning, this is horrendous.
Attacker used chainsaw to kill mum-of-three and cut up her body, neighbours say | Daily Mail Online
'''I would like to thank those who have responded to our appeal. Today's arrest is a significant development but I stress this is an ongoing investigation and anybody with information who has not yet come forward is urged to do so, no matter how insignificant the information may seem.

'This murder has understandably shocked everybody in the village and surrounding areas. Our visibility in the village has been increased.'''

A chainsaw? That's a horrible way to go out. What could the motive even be for a method this violent??

Just a reminder of the PACE rules:

The police can hold you for up to 24 hours before they have to charge you with a crime or release you.

They can apply to hold you for up to 36 or 96 hours if you’re suspected of a serious crime, eg murder.

You can be held without charge for up to 14 days If you’re arrested under the Terrorism Act.

Being arrested: your rights

The POI was arrested around Tuesday lunchtime so it would seem one extension has already been granted, with the next deadline falling on Saturday, all things being equal.

Holy cats, a chainsaw?!?

A chainsaw is not discreet. There's no way that the neighbours will not have been aware that someone nearby was using one, and (sorry) it will have made a mess of the person using it. You need to know how to use one and be physically strong enough to control it and prevent it from hurting you. Unless you have your own (or the victim had one of her own on the premises), you need to buy or hire one, which is not straightforward without a training certificate. All of these factors will have helped the police narrow down who to arrest.

I guess what I am mainly wondering atm is whether this murder was about rage, revenge, a desire to inflict agony on this particular victim for a reason personal to her, or whether it was deranged, irrational and random.

I agree. I thought it had a distinct whiff of the personal. You've got to think there'll be a psychiatric dimension to what comes out next.

My heart truly goes out to the family.
Rugby fan, 25, with 'no known links' to grandmother, 65, is charged with her murder | Daily Mail Online
''Mrs Fox-Roberts's death is the second tragedy to hit her grown up children Sebastian, Abigail and Tristan, who have all been involved in the family IT business.

Their father Martin, who was divorced from Mrs Fox-Roberts, committed suicide in 2009 by riding his bicycle over cliffs in Cornwall.

An inquest recorded a suicide verdict after hearing the 58-year-old had told people he wanted to 'fly away'.''

'She was a kind hearted, generous woman who was never happier than when with family and friends around her.''
