Peter Wilson, BBC Midlands Today special correspondent, said he understood that police arrested Mr Foran after reported sightings of him sleeping rough and begging in Liverpool city centre.

Michael Foran will appear before Walsall Magistrates Court on Monday, accused of killing 33-year-old Miss Jones, who was found dead at her flat in Wyndmill Crescent, on December 31.

Foran, aged 32 and of no fixed address, was arrested in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon and transferred to the West Midlands for questioning.

Mr Foran spoke only to confirm his name and Irish nationality during a brief hearing before magistrates on Monday.

There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday.

Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (today?) heard that 'a third suspect' in the case was still being located, who is believed to have assisted Foran.

Foran, who is an Irish national and of no fixed address, will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on February 6, where he will enter a plea.

His expected trial date is May 28 this year.

Mr Foran, of no fixed abode, appeared via videolink at Wolverhampton Crown Court, and was remanded in custody until 15 April.

He appeared alongside Keith O'Dwyer, 34, of Beaconview Road, West Bromwich, who denied a charge of assisting an offender.

He is accused of taking Mr Foran to Liverpool with the intention of impeding his apprehension.

Both men were remanded in custody to HMP Hewell in Worcestershire to reappear in court on April 15.

Judge James Burbidge QC told the men: "Each of you have denied responsibility for the crimes alleged against you.

"You will face your trial at this Crown Court on May 28th. In the meantime I remand both of you in custody."
