Re the Sexual Touching - Post 3 on this thread - I wonder if that is all LH will admit to, and the police have no evidence to prove otherwise.

But they will have once the PM has checked for DNA.... surely he realises that never lies?

I'm going to hold off with my thoughts, after making a jump previously! But I think a key point is whether LH believed KH was 19 of whether he knew she was 15. Of course I am also waiting for more details and the investigation to progress.

100% with you...There's nothing we have seen so far to say that LH did this regularly I. E that he was grooming on the regs or a sexual predator. Sure what he did was wrong, no denying that but this happens day in day out, just look in the papers. If kayleigh was alive and people found out about their relationship (or whatever it was) I'm sure some people would be disgusted but I bet quite a few wouldn't bat an eyelid...however because of what has happened the police have no choice but to charge him with grooming..and now everyone wants his head to roll

Yup! After all ... Shauna Hoare was a year younger than KayLeigh when she was practically living with Nathan Matthews so anyone who's stomach is turned by Luke should be even more disturbed by that.

With the current charges and no other information to go on, then I would generally more or less agree with you. I don't have a huge issue with a prepared and mature 15-year old girl having sex with a long-term boyfriend who is of a similar age. If I had a 15-year old and found out she was seeing a 27-year old, I would freak out, and while I would be unlikely to kick up too much fuss if the b/f was 17, and if it was 47 then I'd probably call the police, I don't know about 27.

But we don't know yet how linked these two things are in Kayleigh's case. We don't know if it was pure coincidence that she stayed with LH for a couple of nights and then SB abducted her without LH's knowledge. We don't know if LH groomed her while telling SB "I've got a nice underage girl lined up for the weekend, want to come round and see if you can get lucky with her?" So until we do find out what the actual charges will be and hear it all in a court of law, then I don't think I want to assume anything.

I agree with you sar, but I think that BBM is flat out wrong. Not what you said, because that is true, but that some people don't bat an eyelid? Just wrong. :notgood:

I recognise that I may be in a minority, possibly a minority of 1, but I am not seeing this through the same lenses as I see others here are.

You see when I was a teenager I too lied to my parents about where I was going and about what I was doing, and I had underage sex.

Unless more evidence comes out which leads to other charges being brought against LH, I can only see him as doing what millions of people worldwide do also. In some countries it is legal and in others it is illegal, but as it currently stands, I am not seeing any reason to think there was intention to harm Kayleigh from LH.

Teenagers are very willful and we can say that if she hadn't met LH she wouldn't have met SB and she would be safe today, but I'm not seeing the sick-inducing side of this. It is evident that he had discussed Kayleigh with his family, probably lied about her age, but I've not seen anything to say that she was forced to go, or was immature and naive enough to not know that they would probably have sex.

Perhaps I need a wake up call. If it was my 15 year old daughter say, (who is now 22) and obviously without the rape and murder, I would perhaps look at why she was needing this attention from an older man, rather than condemning her or him for sexual behaviour. The internet has played a role in this, but in my day I managed to carry off my own behaviour without internet or a mobile phone. She was a year away from the age of consent. I went to an all girls school, and my own experience was not uncommon. If Kayleigh wasn't going to come to harm with LH, then I see this as undesirable but not that unusual.

I think it right that he is charged and suitably punished, but I don't, with the current charges, see him particularly as a predator or a paedophile.

I'm not saying I can't understand other people's attitudes to this, but I would like to know if my moral boundaries are totally screwed and if they are that different from others.

I hear what you're saying Tortoise. I was another 15 year old who lied to my parents about where I was going and who with. I was also at an all girls school and most of us who went out, used similar lies to our parents. I didnt have the underage sex but was well aware that it was on offer.

I started off with this case, seeing LH as the very weird person. But after a more in depth reading of his posts, it changed my mind and I began to see him as more of a loner, who just tried to * big himself up* to his mates ( who probably all saw through his weird serial killer comments ).

I just hope there is enough evidence for the police to be able to find out exactly what he did , or didnt do and for him to be charged accordingly.

Depends, doesn't it? He might have used a condom and think that won't show up? But if they find traces of condom lubricant as well as semen, then they might figure that LH was not telling the whole truth.

Interesting points raised in the last few posts. For all we know the relationship between Kayleigh and Luke could have been a blossoming love story. I snuck off for nights on the town with friends when I was that age, I was forever telling little fibs so I could do mildly naughty stuff - vodka in the park, cigs in the bus stop, snogging boys, changing into shorter skirts lol! Never stayed over with anyone though, wouldn't have dared.

But Kayleigh (and maybe LH) might have thought there was a real thing going on, he'd told his family about her, maybe he saw her as potential girlfriend, maybe they had met up in real life already. We really need to get more information before we condemn him a paedo.

14/15 year old and a 21/22 year old doesnt seem as weird to me as a 15 year old and a 27 year old. Though neither situations are something I'd want for any of my neices

ETA the age gap is closer to Becky and Nathans age gap than Shauna and Nathans.

I used to want to be a court artist, till I found out you weren't allowed to take your art stuff in with you and had to do the pics afterwards. Wonder if that's still the case. There seems less need for them now with so many pics of people on social media to use freely.

Tbh I was just too sick most of the time. Diagnosed with Crohns aged 12. My doctor has always said I've been a decade behind, so therefore I am 34 now
