GUILTY UK - Kayleigh Haywood, 15, Ibstock, Leicestershire, 13 Nov 2015 - #2

  • #361
Does a guilty plea mean that they won't have to explain why they did what they did and what happened during the days Kayleigh missing? Or will it be part of the sentencing process?

I guess the trial will not go into too much detail regarding the murder but will concentrate on trying to prove that Kayleigh was held against her will, whilst those 2 will be trying to say she stayed with them voluntarily.

We may however hear more detail regarding the murder in the judge's sentencing remarks.

Whilst I don't necessarily want to hear the details of the murder itself, that would be very harrowing for everyone, I would be interested in how it came about iyswim. How did 2 seemingly normal young men get themselves into a situation where such a brutal event occured and why.

Any thoughts on why both have denied the false imprisonment charges? I guess the obvious answer would be that they didn't falsely imprison her, but I was wondering if there could be any other motivation, does admitting to that charge affect the sentencing for the other charges?

Yes, I think you're right. I would say that admitting to false imprisonment would indicate more serious intent to harm and might even be used by the prosecution to claim there was premeditation in their actions.

Ive been following the FB page, and they kept saying that today was the start of justice for Kayleigh but I cannot find anything in the press at all?

  • #371
I wonder if it was just Jury selection today, hence the reason no press are covering as yet ?

Could be, but it was listed for starting tomorrow. Could also have been pre-trial disclosures / admissions of defence statements to evidence and legal argument.

Usually the Facebook group "UK & Eire database for all crimes against children" follow these court cases in detail, but they don't have anything on their page.
