Am I the only one who views LH as someone who would put any woman off? Either a teenager or a grown up woman his age?

He doesn't appear as someone who is 'desireable' to any female on earth! Also SB although not as much.

If I saw them both all I would think was that they were a gay couple.

What a shame. Oh Kayleigh :(

Likely as the best friend was originally going to go with her to meet up with him. Wonder if it could have saved her if the best friend did go along. Or they both could have sadly ended up dead. Guess we'll never know! :(

Those questions will probably be torturing the friend for the rest of her life. I hope her family will be hugging her and telling her they're glad she wasn't also found in that field.

Even if they were together that weekend the man/men could have arranged to meet with one of them alone in the future.

We all want to prevent these things happening and warn other families and other teens, but at the same time we have to accept what has happened has happened and regrets and recriminations won't change that now.

My sympathies go out to all Kayleigh's family and friends for the nightmare they've been going through and that their worst fears are now confirmed. No one should have to go through this :-(

I'm interested to know what led the police to arrested them both so quickly, I mean it was pretty fast. Could it be they we're attempting to dispose of evidence but the police presence put a stop to it and something led police quickly back to them? I think Kayleigh's phone gave them clues but there must be other reasons the police arrested them BOTH so soon?

I also thought it could have been the phone - was it found on the Saturday or later ?
Once they had the phone , with messages probably ? then I imagine they accessed Kayleigh's FB and read the private messages which would have given them the link.

Still doesnt explain why SB was arrested though as the FB only seems to link to LH. So must be something else as well.

ETA Just catching up with later posts ( reminder to self to read all new posts before posting ! )
I had forgotten about the friend - the excuse Kayleigh gave to her parents. No doubt she provided LHs name pretty quickly on the Sunday ( or Saturday night ? ) once the parents raised the alarm.

Thanks Skibs and Alyce.
It seems disrespectful to put in writing, but I was surprised she was left in a field when a large amount of water is nearby IYKWIM?

Yes, I thought this, though am glad they have found her 'in tact' as hopefully there will be plenty of DNA. I can't help thinking about what happened to her, I truly hope her last minutes weren't filled with horror and fear, though I know that is unlikely. Can only imagine how her family feel and the poor girl who was meant to be going with her.. praying now that there was no sexual element but think I may be disappointed on that one!!
Such a horrible and needless death, Facebook really is SO dangerous for kids!!! :candle:

This police report was updated this morning. I'm really struggling with why they can't formally ID her, I can only think that the circumstance she was found in must have be horrendous.

Body found believed to be Kayleigh Haywood
Issued on 19/11/15 at 9:59 a.m.

Police believe that the body found in a field in Ibstock is that of the missing teenager Kayleigh Haywood.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death, and a detailed forensic examination of the area where the body was found at around 10pm last night will continue this morning. That area will remain cordoned off.

Kayleigh’s family are aware of these developments and continue to be supported by specially-trained police Family Liaison Officers.

Detective Chief Superintendent David Sandall, Head of Crime for Leicestershire Police, said: “From the evidence available to us, we believe that the body found is Kayleigh.

“Understanding the events leading up to her death, and precisely how she died, is clearly our focus, as is providing whatever support we can to Kayleigh’s parents, brothers and sister at this desperately bleak time for them.

“Last night many members of the community came together for a vigil and I know that this demonstration of support and care for Kayleigh’s family will continue to be shown in the days, weeks and months to come.

“It remains vital that anyone who has any information at all about where Kayleigh has been since she was last seen outside the Ibstock Community College in Central Avenue, Ibstock, on Friday night and who has, for whatever reason not yet come forward, does so without delay. We need to understand where she went and what has happened to her.”

Two men, aged 27 and 28, who were arrested in the early hours of Monday morning on suspicion of kidnap and who were yesterday re-arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in police custody this morning. An application was granted by magistrates this morning to hold them for a further and final 24 hours.

Yes, I would think the condition of the body is the reason. Perhaps waiting for dental records. Very sad thought.

But at last - finally - they are asking for sightings since Friday night. That has been bugging me since the start. They could have got more info by putting this time line of Friday night out earlier I think.

Sorry, posted wrong link.

They probably just threw her stuff in different areas/places to not give the police a specific area to search? Some of her clothes were found in the wagtail storage unit, her phone was found in the park?

These next 24 hours will be interesting when the final decision has to be made.

I wonder of KH lost the phone in a struggle.....seems crazy that the perps would leave that so close to home. They, or at least one of them must have know that the facebook messages or convo's could be found by parents or Family so don't think we are dealing with anyone too bright! My guess is LH persuaded KH to meet, at first wanted her friend to go but was possibly talked out of this by LH. Fell for his attention and (cringe) charm. Went to meet him, probably went back to his house, then possibly realised she was in too deep but was unable to get away and assaulted.....God, I hope i'm wrong but don't think this was in anyway accidental!! Not convinced on SB's involvement yet other than he had the van and LH couldn't drive. He could however have been there all along, perhaps her friend was meant for him! I hope they have good evidence to back up whatever charges come! MOO

I think from the way the Police read statement after arrests, they had access to Kayleighs Facebook and saw messages between them!

Really good points you've made there! I agree, the van because LH couldn't drive & the storage unit(s) SB was renting where her clothes were found? LH had to have been driven there as he doesn't drive. That's why I think SB was brought in as well. On wagtails storage website, by law you have to give them your full identification before renting out any of their storage units.

I have this one, think it came through a different route

Somebody mentioned this yesterday, but I also get a gay "vibe" from LH. Not sure how relevant that would be to the overall story, just an observation. Whether he is gay or straight, there is definitely something unsettling about some of those pictures. I wonder if he lured Kayleigh with the promise of being in a movie and they filmed whatever it is that they did to her.

I wonder what Kayleigh thought she was going to be doing that evening with LH. It seems he must have lured her in with something to make her do that alone, but she was happy to agree in advance to spend the night with someone she had never met and didn't know if she would even like. It's very strange.

Sadly, Probably 'well groomed & charmed"....He probaby made her a dozen promises of how safe she'd be and how he had a spare bed or sofa and would look after her. From what we've seen I think KH was probably not very streetwise or confident and literally fell for the charm and attention! Unbelievably sad. RIP Kayleigh

I get its police talk. What I'm struggling with is she was found at 10.00pm last night and at 9.59am this morning police have still not ID'd her. Could just be the autopsy couldn't be carried out through the night or SOC had a lot to do.

The police don't ID her! It has to be a member of her family, or someone who knew her personally. That will happen when they are ready to do it. There's no real urgency, they don't drag people from their beds to do it.

That's what I've been trying to work out. It appears to be LH Kayleigh was going to meet. Now I could be wrong but he doesn't seem to be somebody that a 15 year old girl would find physically attractive and originally both girls were going to meet him and the chances of both girls finding him physically attractive seems even slimmer. So was there another incentive for them to meet up with him that we haven't heard about? Did he tell them he was a film director(kinda true) and wanted them in a film? Was he promising to take them out to a club? I'm trying to think what would tempt two girls to plan to meet up with him...

They wait for family to ID her. This might mean having to prep the body which can take varying amounts of time. They wil then wait until the family have notified whomever they wish to before the news breaks.

Totally different circumstances, but when my dad died my mum got a friend to drive her hours to go and tell my grandma, several hours round trip. Gran wouldn't have found out on social media, and of course it wasn't on the news, but mum felt she had to tell her face to face before she could begin to do anything else. Kayleighs grandparents amongst others will have to be told the news and this can take time. I'm pretty sure the police knew it was Kayleigh as soon as they found her.

I also get a gay vibe from LH. I don't think he lured her there for sexual purposes. I think it was to play out his fantasy of horror. The tweet where he asked about what weapon you would use if you were secretly a serial killer freaked me out! It's not normal behaviour. Im unsure as to what he could have said that would have gotten her to meet him though. He could have promised her all sorts or knew the right things to say to try & charm her. With her being so young, & potentially vulnerable, she could have easily fallen for it. She may have loved an older guy giving/showing her attention. Who knows. Jmo.

Actually LH looks like one of my friends who funnily enough is the same age. He's very unsuccessful in the love life department but he has a huge amount of male and female friends. The females mainly because he's seen as "safe" I. E. He never trys to hit on them, instead he enjoys going out partying with them and then making sure they get back ok but he's always around incase there's any trouble...

I'm still wondering if there's any significance of her being dropped off at the college at 6pm - the exact time a group were meeting there to go to a local rugby match. Is that what she told her parents? Was she meant to be going? Seems Kayleigh fibbed to her parents ("going to stay my besties house") AND her best friend ("going to stay at my aunt's house") so she must have realised she was doing something she shouldn't.

Just so sad she was so trusting, I've no doubt she was groomed in whatever fashion. If she had never met this man before there will be plenty of digital evidence of their plan to meet, which will hopefully reveal exactly why she went.
