Renewed appeal to trace missing man – Kevin Campbell, Stonehaven

Police are again appealing for the assistance of the public to help trace 29-year-old Kevin Campbell who is missing from Stonehaven.

Kevin, who is described as white, 5ft8, of medium build, with short brown hair and a beard, was last seen in High Street, Montrose, on Saturday, 1 October 2022, and was wearing a black short-sleeved t-shirt, black trousers and black trainers.

Sergeant Paul Kenny, Police Scotland, said:

“It’s almost three weeks now since Kevin was last seen. He is usually in daily contact with his family and for him not to have been in touch for so long now is very concerning for his family and police.

“Although he’s from Stonehaven, he regularly visits Montrose where he has friends, however, no one has seen or heard from him since the beginning of this month.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may know where he is or who has seen him in the last two to three weeks. If you have any information, please call police via 101quoting reference number 1979 of Wednesday, 5 October 2022.

“We’d also appeal to Kevin himself to return home or get in touch with family. Everyone just wants to make sure he is safe and well.”

The family of a man reported missing in Aberdeenshire are fearing the worst as they desperately issue a plea for information.

Kevin Campbell has been missing since September 30. With police initially reporting him missing from Stonehaven, there have since been sightings of him in Montrose on October 6.

The 29-year-old, who has suffered with mental health issues in the past, was in touch with his mum, Anne, on a daily basis, and his auntie, Lillian Sherriffs, every few days. Despite searches from police, friends, and family, his whereabouts remain a mystery.

[...]

Lillian, 64, who lives in Craigo, said: “His mother and father are beginning to get extremely worried.

"They’re fearing the worst. Kevin wouldn’t have just walked away because he always contacted his mum, every single day.

[...]

“He messaged me on Facebook at 5.53am on September 30 to say he had just woken up and had £700 extra of benefits in his bank account.

“He was so upbeat. He was set to get a new kitchen. He had a new phone, he got himself a kitten that he absolutely worshiped. He had a new lease of life."

[...]

She added: "He was on medication for [mental health issues] and going for it religiously. He’s missed hospital appointments since he’s gone missing.

"He left his phone on charge and the cat in the flat when he went missing, which isn’t normal. Kevin never went anywhere without his phone..."

Specialist police resources have joined the search for a “much-loved son” who has been missing in Montrose for more than three weeks.

Kevin Campbell was last seen on Paton’s Lane at around 6.40pm on Sunday October 1.

The 29-year-old, from Stonehaven, has not been seen since and officers are now appealing for anyone who owns private CCTV or doorbell cameras in that area of the town to come forward.

Chief Inspector Leanne Blacklaw, local area commander, said: “It’s been nearly a month since he was last seen or heard from, and as time goes by, our concern for his welfare increases.

“We know that Kevin came through to Montrose to visit friends but they have not had any contact from him since the beginning of the month.

No contact with family

“He’s close to his family and usually in touch daily, but this has not happened since last seen..."

Police searching for a missing man from Stonehaven have urged people to check their private CCTV or doorbell footage in the hope of finding him.

Kevin Campbell was last seen on Paton's Lane, Montrose at around 6.40pm on Saturday, October 1. His distraught family previously revealed how they were "fearing the worst".

Hope he wasn't just wearing a t-shirt as it's hardly ever warm in the North East. Both towns are very small to be laying low in. Where are you Kevin?

This is my neck of the woods, hadn't heard about this gentleman I think it's likely he went in the sea, and having swam at Montrose previously for a Christmas Eve swim, the sea is freezing and the currents are very strong. It's also a very desolate beach in winter and could easily go in in the evening unnoticed. I hope I'm wrong and he's out there somewhere

Police appeal in first post gone - found?

Someone who claims to be Kevin's aunt posted an appeal for him on her Facebook page on 01 Oct 2023, saying that he is still missing one year after he disappeared. That post was then shared to at least one "missing person" site. Of course, I can't link to these posts. Sadly it looks like Kevin is still missing.

I see he is still live on the Missing People site too.
