Nurse Laurie Jones, 23, was spotted leaving her night shift at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in the early hours of this morning.

According to the Sun’s link she left her work “for the drive home.”

I assume she was driving herself - a possible car accident ? 17 miles back home, too...

Body of woman found in car in river is missing nurse - Caerphilly Observer

Gwent Police has confirmed the woman in the vehicle has been formally identified as Ms Jones.

Officers are not treating her death as suspicious and specialist offices are supporting her family.

Night shift work has its own special risks. I just returned from an international shiftwork research conference. 1 in 4 night shift healthcare workers have fallen asleep driving home from work in the past 6 months at least once.

I suspect that is what happened to this young woman. A tragic loss to the profession.
