Your spot on Joolz, the headline clearly states deliberately dismembered, however the official Det report so far states -

‘ Det Ch Insp Al Curtis said pathologists believed the foot had been dismembered in the past year.

And that at this stage they are not ruling anything out.

Sounds like it’s not officially confirmed yet either way.


ETA Back to Leah.. we would know by now if it was Leah no doubt I do believe.

Have to admit, I thought any links to Joseph McCann were too much of a stretch BUT having read the news reports today regarding his victims and alleged victims, he is audacious and apparently picks them at random. It would be interesting to know if he has connections in west MK, which may have lead him to the area that morning. It doesnt seem v clear when he was released, appears to be Feb tho.

Horrific if he crossed paths with Leah but unlikely because while he seems to have left a trail of destruction, others he attacked seem to have escaped/been freed somehow. Then of course you have the question of fewer public searches and lack of MSM and how that may have impacted the situation and maybe even helped prevent further attacks. I wouldn’t rule it out completely but I think it is unlikely.

However, on the basis of what is publicly available it is unlikely Leah would go missing and unlikely she would stay missing.

Surely it must be time for another police statement?

I definitely agree, another statement is needed and I think they should release more information to harness more public interest/help.

Especially when they are issuing statements like this:

'[police chief] said it is "impossible" to know whether there are further victims and he appealed for anyone who fear they may have been attacked to come forward.

He urged people who have been in contact with the suspect between February, when he was released from prison, and May to come forward.'

Reading through the list of offences, his MO is to use a vehicle to abduct (mainly young) women at random at all hours, even one in a town centre at midday. Obviously the later offences are on an escalated timescale as he became more and more chaotic.

But even when he was attacking multiple people in one day, it still took LE a while to catch him.

He's a completely anonymous looking bald headed white guy. There are about six thousand people who look like him in any given square mile of the UK.

The victims we know about are the ones who escaped. I know it's a leap and a stretch. But we also don't have ANY credible leads for Leah, or ANY further information. So I do think it's worth considering.

Can anyone find an article where an exact release date in February has been given? That would obvs rule him out once and for all if it was after 15th Feb.

Sorry, this might be seen as OT, but it's in reference to above thread, and following much discussion of whether or not Leah has been snatched into a vehicle. Obviously McCann has capacity to obtain and change vehicles easily, by whatever means.

Apologies i may have got the 1st February date incorrect, i will try and find the date if i can. I did find this in The Guardian however:

Detectives said McCann speaks with a slight Irish accent and has the name “Bobbie” tattooed on his stomach. He has links to Watford, Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire and Ipswich in Suffolk.

Is Aylesbury anywhere near Milton Keynes?

A February 1 release date would work...his sentence was from July 2017, so even if he was imprisoned at the very end of July that would still make his release date the end of January...so February 1 would fit.

According to ‘The Times’ newspaper dates 7th May -

Later that year, McCann was arrested for further offending and in January 2018 was sentenced to a fixed term sentence of three years for burglary, theft and taking a motor vehicle without consent. With time on remand taken into accout, he was released automatically at the halfway stage of the sentence in February this year.

(We don’t know yet the release day)

I agree with Joolz & Alyce that the MO and crimes of JM that we know is this far, does not relate in pattern to Leah’s disappearance.

Yes you're right, he was halfway through his 3 year sentence so an early February release would seem likely.

I did notice that on 21 April he abducted and raped a 21 year-old woman in Watford, which is more or less the same distance away from Aylesbury as Milton Keynes is. Could he have been staying in Aylesbury when he committed the abduction/rape on 21 April? And i wonder if he was in the Aylesbury area after his release from prison in February?

I saw your post at lunchtime JNSQ and checked the v large retail carpark at my work this afternoon. Not one poster! I havent seen any in houses either, sad to say. I saw some people comment on fB that they don't get the citizen any more. Distribution is quite selective it seems. I dont know if you can actually buy it anywhere either, you used to be able to buy a copy from their office in cmk.

You can buy it for £1 in supermarkets. Doubt many would as there’s nothing in it.
It was a great idea putting a Leah’s poster on front cover. An even better idea would have been not to put an advertising front sheet over the top of it. For those houses who got it delivered it looked no different to normal so would likely to have gone in recycling. If you saw it on newsstands again the front cover was an advertising sheet and made no reference to Leah.
