I think I would have then started to wonder where she was.
From everything the family have said, I got the impression that Leah was responsible and considerate of others. So to not turn up for work, on a scheduled work day and not let anyone know and to have her phone switched off all day **, would have raised concerns for me.

Instead JC seemed ok with sitting it out until 8.30pm, the scheduled dinner time.
I wonder if this 8.30pm dinner was a Friday night family get together, hence the reason JC was sure Leah would definately be home by then.
Because, we were told that, the night before, Leah had ordered a take away, so presumably the 8.30pm dinner was not an every night routine.

** Re phone switch off - I am guessing here, but if the colleague was concerned enough to phone JC at 5pm, then I feel fairly sure he or she would have already been trying to contact Leah during the day, via her mobile and possibly also her home land line. I doubt the colleague would wait until 5pm to check on her and I think the only reason they phoned JC then was because they had tried all other options.
Hi Alyce,
Sorry if I missed this previously but....Who is JC ?

I would hazard to guess that between the first call from Leah’s workplace and calling LE that the parents would have been calling any known friends or contacts and deliberating whether this is now an emergency. Because I personally would have called the police immediately, but some people are less emotional in their actions and may reason it’s best to stay calm and try all possible lines of enquiry they could first. Perhaps they are people not comfortable to take up LE time unless it’s seemingly an absolute emergency.

Whereas others may think otherwise reasoning it’s best to be safe than sorry (kind of my mentality).

Just a thought

Edited to add- The 1st call from her workplace, some concern I would guess, but optimistically assuming she may be at home, then once getting home attempting to call around. As parents were both at work until around 5pm if I recall correctly?

Surely the parents would have known if she was on holiday leave. I would imagine she would have saved her leave for upcoming holiday. If she had the following day off work then you think she would have mentioned it to mum/dad when they were choosing airport hotel on the last night they saw here before going to bed? Also dad said she had refused to take the day off work once before for family wedding as she couldn’t get cover..considering she was such a creature of habit alarm bells would have been ringing with me when I received call from her work at 5pm & I couldn’t contact her by phone (either mobile or home telephone incase she was at home ill) I would defo have called police when I arrived home & found she wasn’t there. Jmo.

Several points to make regarding the delay in notifying the parents:

1. She was 19 she was legally an adult to discuss her affairs with others the employer has to have a reasonable concern under a duty of care for her wellbeing or safety to be able to breach this confidence.

2. Having been a manager of young people I have had multiple experience with people not turning up to work, not notifying the business and having to be chased to find out where they are. So if the business has a large proportion of younger staff this might not have been out of the ordinary even though Leah has been known to be reliable.

3. When lots of employees complete their personal information on employment forms most of them do not provide any other number than their mobile.

4. I have also have had a 19 year old step son who lived with us. He didn’t communicate with us a lot of the time we had no idea if he had holiday from work or not. We also found out that on a good few occasions he also took unauthorised absence from work and we had no idea. With hindsight he could have gone missing for a lot longer than it took the parents to report before we would have realised he was missing. So the parents acts were not that delayed.

Sorry for the long post but I thought it was worth pointing these factors out.

JC = Leah's father, I tend to use initials for most names, although it's not essential. Plus it does help google to not be picking up every post I make.

RE time getting home. We know JC left work at 5pm, but no idea re CC - she works in a care home, so her hours are likely to be longer and varied. If it was correct that she was taken to work on that day by JC at 7.30am, then like to be an 8 to 8 shift I would guess.

Having reviewed the photos in the media, I can’t help but question if the person in the CCTV from 15th is actually Leah? Quality of the image is poor so that doesn’t help however the face of that person seems much less rounded than the other images of Leah including the one from work the previous day. Is it just me that thinks that?

No, me too. I posted before I wasn't sure it was Leah and I also thought it might be from the wrong day. The image is poor and I'm sure Police would not get that wrong but something still bugs me about it.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that. I’m sure the police have done their job properly though. It would be awful if it was wrong.

No not just you. I have difficulty in believing it is Leah, but I guess if her parents confirm it, then it must be. Perhaps it’s just the angle of the shot.

Me too, I don't think it looks like Leah but agree it's not a great image.

Police must have traced the phone pings to match the area and time where the cctv was so it was probably Leah

Agreed. I keep trying to convince myself it is her but I can't make my eyes believe it.

I am surprised this is the only cctv image they have of her on her journey to work.

Is it the only image of Leah or the last confirmed sighting of her? I got the idea from the radio interview that she wasn't seen on cctv anywhere else at all that morning, but I may have taken it up wrong.

I am also surprised her family have not issued video or other photos of her to keep her in the news.

As far as I know it is the only sighting of her and the next previous sighting was apparently 10pm the day before. So if for some reason that is not actually her on CCTV then it becomes a very case.

I am sure her parents will have been shown the footage by police and asked to confirm it is her before it was released

Likewise if it was someone else am sure the girl who it is’ parents will have come out and said “you are wrong, that is my daughter”

Or the girl herself, if not Leah, would surely have come forward and said it was her not Leah?

Why was she being filmed from inside someone's house?

Are you referring to the CCTV from near Buzzacott? If so, it's CCTV from outside someone's home; she wasn't being filmed from indoors. Unless you're talking about something else that I've not read about yet?

I reckon I need to look at it again.
