Unless she was sick to the back teeth of competing and was feeling under pressure about the whole thing.

Entirely possible John was over demanding towards her given that he was into taekwondo too, Olga Korbut’s father used to beat her if she made a mistake, same as Jelena Dokic father in tennis, i read that Venus/Serena’s father treated them horribly in his desire to take them to the top so John pressurising Leah to succeed could been damaging for her

As a local I am so frustrated about the lack of information. It’s my feeling that the family are being censored by LE which must be frustrating for them too. I believe this is restricting media coverage since nothing new can be released. There hasn’t been any signs of any physical police presence since the first couple of weeks. So what exactly are they doing? Because it really feels like it’s not enough.

Why do you think the family are being censored by LE?

Interesting point - why the censorship?

I don’t believe I can say why as it’s against the rules. But that certainly is my impression. I think it’s a case of stick to the LE script. Which I’m sure is probably part of the protocol for this type of thing for the Police.

If it was my daughter and LE was telling me to keep quiet I would probably listen for a short while but I would quickly lose confidence and start a media campaign off my own back (or at least i think I would).

I'd be shouting it from the rooftops that she was missing and asking for help.

It's very frustrating, Loz! You can certainly give your own opinion on why you might think it could be, we're here to bounce ideas around!

I agree, Joolz. No way could I put up and shut up. The family are doing a great job of sharing posters, but it does feel like there's nothing new to keep it in the public eye. My only hope is that the police are keeping it on the low down because they know what's happened, but there's no indication of that either.

I'd have started a Corries army campaign by now and enlisted you guys to help.

Local media could not have pushed Libbys story anymore than what they did, Hull live was saturated with news about her.

Something totally different at play here IMO.

As a mother I agree I certainly wouldn’t keep quiet either. I would encourage all and any conversation.
It’s the lack of it which is what says to me it’s being censored. Does that make sense?

I think if you want to be heard you can be Corrie's mum proved that.
I would like Corrie's mum be organising my own searches.
I would be contacting every newspaper and T.V company.
Who told you it is being censored or is that just local rumour.
Do you personally know the family?

As European champion Leah would have certainly have taken part in the worlds, and stood good chance of winning, another reason i dont think she would give up everything and go ‘off grid’

Hi Loz,

Do you currently think it’s likely she has runaway, or do you think she may have come to harm?
Just trying to gauge what the local feeling is atm in this case. Thank you in advance

Hi, I've been away from here for a while. There is mention on the previous thread of a podcast by Leah's parents. Is there a link to this please?
Welcome back

Can I ask if her phone was switched off or the battery died and how would one know ?

Pity there isn't anyone (as far as I know) involved with the media on here that can give an opinion on whether they think there is some sort of media blackout on the case and if so why.

Agree! Other than kidnap (nah) I wonder what reasons there could be for a blackout?

Maybe I'm naive HKP but I don't get why it's not been shouted from the roof tops.

Unless LE know she is safe and Just doesn't want to return home but surely it wouldn't still be an ongoing investigation.

Or the suspicious side of me (blame line of duty) she has witnessed something baaaad and is in some sort of witness protection and her been missing is a cover (I know...too much I will stop :D)

Or because police have a very good idea of exactly what happened, but just need to wait for someone to slip up and lead them to evidence.

That's the most obvious one Cags and likely the most correct, but I was letting my mind wander somewhere else. Blame the pain killers :D
