Of course! We're not saying anyone lied. Yesterday people were suggesting HC's court hearing was a ruse set up by the TVP as a legal way of getting AC's name in the media. He's only a (completely cooperative) witness so the TVP can't put his name out there, but with HC's case the press can report on HC, AC and AC's link with Leah. It was suggested that the TVP would want this info out there to get tips on AC or to put pressure on him.

But that would mean that the TVP and court system orchestrated a pretend case in which HC "threatened" AC, only so that they could all go to court and present information about AC and his relationship with Leah in order for the press to report on it (and publicise the info they want public). Miss_French explained that if the police did get more information as a result of this "fake" case being in the media, it can't be used in court as the information would be gained through deception.

It's a lot more logical that HC did seriously threaten AC to the point that it was appropriate to take him to the Crown Court and apply a restraining order. It's very likely that HC was arrested as part of all of this and probably had whichever device he used to make the threats confiscated. There would have been at least several weeks waiting for his court appearance where he probably had to prepare himself for the prospect of getting time/another punishment. That would be an extreme thing to do to the devastated brother of a missing woman just to get a name in the media if he did nothing wrong.

AC reported the online harrassment? And/or, with part of the restraining order being a ban on being in Knowlhill, HC turned up at the workplace, and was reported trying to act the hard man hanging around AC's vehicle in the car park? Or HC had a public rant at AC that was seen by other people, and that was reported by AC and/or staff who also don't want that kind of thing happening? Maybe the geographic ban is just part and parcel and there's something said online, of which we aren't aware, that made AC think HC would turn up at work?

I don't think there's anything here other than a normal reporting of a crime, not a further conspiracy like anyone being surveilled....

I don't think there was a fake case at all.

I think the threats HC made are very real.

I do think it's convenient for LE that AC name now in the media though as if he has anything to hide maybe it will prompt someone that has information to come forward.

But to suggest it was a fake case doesn't really make sense, not least because HC doesn't appear stable enough to pull off the level of acting needed for something like that.

ETA: I agree that it was not a fake case. Apart from anything else, I doubt the court date would have been delayed if it were part of an investigative tactic. I think there would be too many uncontrollable elements from LE’s point of view.



To change the subject for a moment, I am wondering about what a ‘confirmed’ sighting is?

I am specifically thinking about the video of Leah on her way to work on the Friday, which I believe was issued by TVP and is therefore ‘confirmed’ and then the two sightings-by three people- by by the lake later on (which seem to me to be ‘unconfirmed’; not necessarily described as such directly but by implication if the last ‘confirmed’ sighting was the video).

Do ‘confirmed ‘ sightings have to have video or photographic evidence?

Would ‘unconfirmed’ cover the following:

- where the sighting is believed to be the missing person but there is no video/photo evidence

- where the sighting has been investigated but subsequently felt to not be the missing person?

Just to add my thought re fake case - it would be a huge abuse of Court time and justice to do anything of the sort. This would have huge implications for the police if they did anything like this. No way.

Interested to note where you heard about HC kicking off at Ac place of work - we have speculated but not seen any evidence of it.

When affairs happen lots of parties become angry and feel betrayed.

LE said they are following up a number of lines of enquiry so I am sure they are following up (or have followed up) on anything or anybody where there is potential involvement or who may not have been happy about any relationship.

Anyone who has info that may be relevant should phone 101 or Crimestoppers and let LE know.

Possibly but if HC was causing a scene outside his work place or home would this not draw unwanted attention to him also. Maybe AC's family pressured him into making a complaint. If I was AC and i was innocent regardless of previous bad blood i would sympathise with HC's feelings, his sister his missing and his emotions are running away with him , not sure I would want to press charges on him. Id be happy with a stern word from LE but maybe that's just me.

The removal of posters worries me , why would anyone want to hinder Leah being found, even kids aren't that callous surely!

I have my own theory and unfortunately I think Leah was involved in a situation that was bigger than she ever imagined. I believe she has been harmed, I hope I'm wrong but given the length of time she has been missing I cant see another ending.

A phone will stay connected to a mobile mast for a certain amount of time (3 hours I believe) after powering down for whatever reason, so the mobile provider will know what time the phone went off. LE will have asked for that kind of info from the network.

I was commenting about the word "suddenly" being used by the aunt. Switching off a mobile can be done at any time, but to switch it off "suddenly" implies the mobile was actually in use (e.g. mid call) at the time it was powered off.

Previous posters commented about Leah's mum telling her to alternate her route. Had leah been threatened prior to her going missing? if it's TRUE that she had an affair with a married man this raises POI in my mind.
