A month has now passed since Haydon passed away, and I was really hoping that that could be the catalyst to force an unraveling of the case as a consequence:- (if Leah was still alive and being held captive by someone).

Now though, I am really left at the point where I think she was simply abducted that morning, hauled into a car or van, and taken to remote countryside or woodland where she has been well buried or disposed of.

It's been so long now that not much of her will remain even if she is found. Any ground disturbance would have long settled since mid February and would have quickly covered over by vegetation with the onset of Spring.

The person who knows what's happened to leah is obviously very skilled at avoiding detection, and I hate to say this, but I have a strong feeling that this case may now never be resolved unless the perpetrator comes forward or Leah is found by chance.

Joseph Mccan has briefly been mentioned as he has links close to MK, Leah seems to be completely the opposite of his MO, however if Leah put up enough of a struggle do we reckon he would have strayed into potential murder? I wonder if he’s even been considered or is to far out the realms of possibility.

Absolutely a possibility.

We know Mccann went on the rampage as soon as he was released from prison in February. He started off with several abductions and rapes in London and then went up to the North East to continue his terrible campaign there. MK would have been on his way and he might have spotted Leah going to work that morning by chance and snatched her and disposed of her before moving on.

In a McCann vs Croucher scenario, I feel there would be little chance of a struggle, McCann is a well built man while Leah was quite petite and small, chances are she would have been quickly overpowered IMO.

It's definately worth the police re tracing the steps this guy went when he was in the London area for sure.

It might surprise people what the police are working on and what leads they are following.

Hard to read what this family are still going through ..someone seems to have done a pretty good job of making sure Leah cant be found yet

17 December 2019

The devastated relatives of missing woman Leah Croucher, whose brother killed himself last month, say they have 'cancelled Christmas' this year.

Leah Croucher, 20, disappeared in February this year while walking to work and has not been seen since despite a huge police search.

[...]

The sibling's older sister Jade, 26, said: “The sadness just keeps coming with the force of a truck.

"It is a month since we lost our brother.

"Leah I know in my heart that there is nothing in this world that would stop you from being at his funeral!

"What or who is stopping you from being here? Are you in heaven with Haydon? Are you looking after one another? Will you ever come home to us?

"The sad truth is - we just don’t know but the loss that I feel from you being missing for 10 months feels the same intensity as grieving, that’s for sure.”

More:

She added: "I am finding it so difficult to accept that Haydon is gone, I am finding it so difficult that we still have no answers about what has happened to Leah.

"I find it difficult that at a time of year where everyone is surrounded by love, I have lost my brother and sister.

"My fears grow every day, my heart physically aches for them both. Why has the world dealt us such a bad card?”

He revealed on the day of Haydon's funeral earlier this month, police officers knocked on his door with another “lead” regarding Leah.

He said: “Our horrible life does not pause because we lost our kind, wonderful son.

"Just before Haydon's funeral, the police arrived, apologising for the intrusion at this difficult time but there was another patch of land to search.

"The end result - nothing as usual. But there was time spent wondering if we would have two funerals this month to organise.

“At least they would be back together. Two children to say final goodbyes to.

How do you mean, Taskforce88?

I was just confirming what bringmeacupoft mentioned, that there will be a lot going on that we are not aware of.

Less than a week until Christmas. I never thought it would be so long and Leah’s family would still be waiting for answers. I really hope the police get a breakthrough soon.

X, I am still looking forward to the day that you give an honest account of what happened. Just walk into the police station and tell them.

Still so quiet here but Leah very much in our thoughts.

Would Haydon’s sad passing have changed the Leah investigation in any way, do you think? I do not even know what I am asking - nothing, of course, implying that Haydon was anything other than a loving brother, but just whether something may crop up? I don’t know who gathers info on a suicide or how much, or how separate it needs to be kept from the Leah investigation?

If this is too insensitive a post, please do report/delete it.

Has there been an inquest on Haydon does anyone know? I cannot remember. Did he leave a note at all?

ETA. I remember reading some of the reports now. Here is one -

There doesn't have to be an inquest if the cause of death is clear or has been found during a post-mortem, if it is established it was suicide, if the death didn't occur somewhere where a duty of care would be expected, like a hospital and if the coroner decides there is nothing further to investigate.

The police will look at the circumstances and ensure it's not a suspicious death. Also, the coroner can ask for further investigation if warranted. But there's no link between the investigations other than referring to Haydon’s state of mind as a factor.

The inquest was opened and circumstances of his death was discussed but it was then adjourned.

This is an excerpt from the Mirror article linked upthread.

"The coroner suggested a new date for the full inquest into Haydon's death but said this would be changed as it transpired that the date chosen was one of the family's birthday"

So it does seem there is going to be a full inquest at some point.
