On the surface it certainly sounded that way, but reading between the lines (this is just my personal opinion), the statement was very much an indirect appeal to see Leah as the kind, caring, loving, family girl that she is and how much she's missed. Is it possible they were trying to appeal to someone's better nature to come forward with vital information? Or if she has been abducted, to let her go?

Possibly. The statement was definitely one of the more personalised I’ve seen rather than generic. It really gave a good insight to Leah and her character.

Edit: Apparently it's a car boot area that's only open on Sundays.

Yep that’s the National Bowl
1st pic is as it is set up on sundays for boot sale

ETA it has a car auction I think once a week and some other bits and bobs going on but it’s massively under used

Has anything been officially reported in MSM media about her phone except that it hasn't been used? The family have said something about it but I don't want to discuss in case it goes against the TOS.

Can you please indicate where?

I get the feeling that the family thinks she's voluntarily disappeared. JMO.

Appeals from Libby's family had similar content of 'please come home/we love you'. But if there's been no activity on their phones, bank accounts, no sightings of them, no contact with family or friends, then maybe these appeals are really for a different purpose. Maybe they're more about getting media attention in order to get the word out to the public and help them realise how serious this is and that they need to rack their minds and think back to that day, think about whether they have a ring camera, a dashcam, or cctv along the route that Leah might have taken, or any suspicious activity that day from someone they know, and call it into the police if they do have anything that should be checked into or cleared up.

I think it's extremely rare to have so many LE officers and lake searching if LE have 90% belief that the person has voluntarily taken off without telling their family.

I want to come in here and see 'found safe' but I am scared.

True. Appeals by the family are meant to humanise the missing person to a possible abductor; use their name, say they are loved.

Family asking a missing person to get in touch seems to be a standard thing that is said. I have seen it in the other cases I follow on here (Corrie Mckeague and Libby Squire).

1) I see that LE have now put a call out for CCTV and dashcam footage from several areas along what I presume would be Leah's expected route to work that day.

2) I am concerned if people watching this have focused more on the second half of the plea from Leah's mum than the first half. The first half explains clearly why this is highly unlikely to be a voluntary taking off, and it explains why LE are taking this seriously and searching lakes and putting so many man-hours into trying to find Leah.

"We also would like to hear from anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage from Furzton, Emerson Valley, Shenley Lodge, Knowlhill and surrounding areas on Friday 15th February between 8am to 11am."

Read more at: MISSING TEENAGER: More than 50 officers searching for missing Leah Croucher

Why this specific time frame?

They know where Leah was at 8.15 I believe from the cctv footage they already have. Footage from earlier than that would help them understand what was happening around Leah as she walked that journey.

After that time there's a possibility of catching Leah in the locale, talking or interacting with someone, getting into a car, someone entering an area staying off camera for a while and then running away looking around them to see if anyone's watching them.

I think the 11 am cut-off is sort of enough time for leeway as she would probably be either incapacitated, out of the area, or 'hidden' in a building by that time, but again it gives the opportunity for LE to follow movements of anyone who was near to her location and see if there's any suspicious activity going on.

If they found something of interest in this time frame, then they could put out further appeals for more information for 'what happens next'...if that makes sense?

So this timeframe is to encompass, and give leeway, to the time where they hope to find something pertinent to Leah's disappearance. It doesn't mean they know that something of interest might have happened at 10.30, but at least if people send that footage in, then they'll have it just in case and it saves putting out a further appeal for 9 am to 10 am, and then 10 am to 11 am. If this 8am to 11am period is going to bring in hundreds of hours of video, then they have to put a limit on it somewhere, and I think for privacy rights reasons it should be a reasonable limit to show that the request is solely focused on finding out what happened to Leah and not just 'government nosiness'.

The parts about ‘you don’t need to contact me and dad’ in the second half? Makes it seem a bit like they think there’s a reason why she wouldn’t want to contact them? Fall out or whatever?

The first half about the holiday soon and picking the hotel the night before though made me think it’s unlikely she’s left by her own choice. Would have to be some fall out.

The part about not having to contact her mum and dad would be standard missing person's stuff for the UK. If you go to that site for Missing People that we use over here, it's basically what they say on there on every photo of a missing person. It's not indicative of what actually happened to that particular person.

The holiday and having activities that Leah loves is, I believe, more about saying that she's unlikely to be running away from anything, this is unlikely to be a mental health thing. This is a person who has a solid happy and engaged life, someone who has things planned that they're looking forward to in the near and medium term.

Yep sorry, was just trying to figure out what you meant by first and second half.

I agree though, after hearing the first half I think it’s unlikely that she has ran off.

So strange though, it would be unusual for an accident to happen and someone go missing due to it whilst sober and in a built up area. Hopefully witnesses with more information come forward after the latest appeal.

It would be quiet enough for someone to have been dragged into the bushes etc, but on all the red ways you’ll run a very real risk of someone coming along.

The bowl isn’t used at this time of year except Sunday mornings for a car boot.

Annoyingly I can't open this, seem to keep having this problem with regional news sites for some reason. Can you recap or copy the main points please?
I can't open it either. It says its because of my ad blocker.
