I would say from the slightly jerky nature of the movement that the video has been speeded up.

Two options occur to me:

1. If you wanted just to show Leah, why not show her in real time?

If you wanted to show her AND the person behind, you could edit out the pause (as they did recently with Libby case). However, then people would ask 'what happened in the gap'? And it would be V clear that they are looking for the person behind.

The only way to 'accidentally' include that person behind, AND show Leah, without people turning off assuming nothing is going to happen, is to speed up the footage.

2. UNLESS (and i don't know how CCTV of this nature works?) it's a series of still shots, captured, eg, every other second, so the only way to 'animate' it is as a speeded up video.
I am finding it odd that LE didn't show the guy but the media did. Surely, LE controls what is released and would have edited it if they objected to the guy being shown. I don't think it was a mistake. Like someone was saying with the footage in the Libby case, that is heavily edited, carefully controlling what is released to the public. But I can't say that I know what to make of it in Leah's case.

Another strange thing - the media's CCTV is sped up if you look at the timestamp at the top. But the footage in the police appeal is normal and you can see that Leah is walking at a normal pace. Why release/allow the media to release sped up CCTV that looks like she's speed walking away from someone quickly following her when in reality she's walking at quite a leisurely pace?

I wonder if the radio station actually got the CCTV from the police or if the homeowner sent it to them.

If the footage including the man had been given to a major news organisation, that would be different. But if they want to put pressure on him, why release it to the Facebook page of a local radio station with only 15,000 followers? On the off chance that he sees it?

I would have expected a statement from the police by now if the inclusion of the following man was a mistake.

The silence on the matter speaks loudly to me.

Sorry I haven’t caught up but has anyone asked the media source why their video is different to the police video ?

If you are allowed, may i ask the radio station? I saw a few FB pages from radio stations but they only showed the same clip as the police. If this is not allowed here, my apologies! But perhaps that page would show people inquiring about the differences between the two videos...

I'm actually curious why no media outlets have jumped on this actually. They are always hungry for news...I would think the two videos would generate a lot of speculation and therefore, listeners, readers, viewers, etc.

It is said that Leah walked home 2 miles from work each day as well as walk there so surely any random attacker is more likely to strike at night in the dark where there is less people around/less chance of being identified as opposed to day time, assuming she worked 9-5 it would be pitch black for much of her 60-90 min journey, far better time for a stranger following her

Am 95% sure this was a pre arranged meet and she knew who her attacker was

It's harder to spot your mark in the dark if you're after a particular person?

Leah Croucher Map in progress.

Last sighting, CCTV, police searches etc.

Thanks for this!

This puts me in doubt for the Teardrop Lakes sightings. Do we think Leah went missing between Buzzacott and Rutherford Gate or that she went a different route the day she went missing?

Say something happened between Buzzacott and Rutherford....where could someone pick her up in a vehicle? And where could they attack her and leave her if they were on foot and didn't transport to a vehicle?

The fact that the police have not said the young man in the latest CCTV is not a suspect is very telling imho, it would suggest to me he is a suspect, probably the prime suspect, or police would have said by now that him being in the clip is just a coincidence or he will have come forward himself by now to prove his innocence

Being young, in the video he didn’t look more than a year or two older than Leah if that, the chances are his eyesight is better than a middle aged or old guy, so if he wanted to attack her at night it would be very easy

"Where exactly did Leah go missing? Police: “Leah’s usual route to work would be via Buzzacott Lane and then onto Faraday Drive using the redways to travel north towards Kelvin Drive in Knowlhill. We know that this is the route that Leah took on both Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th February, however extensive CCTV work has shown that she did not arrive in Faraday Drive on the morning she went missing - Friday 15th February.""

She was European champion in tae kwon do, won gold medal in the championships, with a skill set like that she could take out any potential attacker who pounced on her Missing Leah Croucher was a martial arts champion, says friends in Milton Keynes

That's the other thing, how can an attacker get an advantage over her? Would getting her into a vehicle mean that she loses some of her spatial advantage over an attacker due to restricted space?

ETA what if an attacker had a knife? She wouldn't be used to training with an opponent who had a weapon? How much would a weapon such as a knife change the dynamics of a fight for her?

Could she have been attacked by someone who's jealous of her success? With a record like hers would she be looking at Worlds or Olympics? Do they have TaeKwonDo at the Olympics?
