"One neighbour said:' It has been empty for quite a few months. I never knew the people who owned the house, but like a lot of properties it was a family from Kuwait.

'We would see a gardener at the property occasionally, but no one else. We did not speak to the people.' "

You'd also think the heating would be put on over the winter, checks for burst pipes and leaks, gas safety (as mentioned in this thread), loose slates, integrity of double glazing...
Generally yes, it’s quite big business around here. A property manager enters the house, checks the post, reads the meters, films a video on their phone for the owner and leaves. Each visit is every 1-2 weeks and lasts around 15 mins

I would imagine that no one doing maintenance had entered the house in a while. the smell of a decomposing body that had been there for 3 summers, especially after the 40+ degree heatwave we had this year, would be very hard to miss

I have a background in lettings so thought I would do some digging. I could not find any old listing online for this property which is very unusual if let throughout an agency. So I then looked for its EPC to see when one was last done. There is no EPC, you should not rent a house without one. For example if you wanted to evict a tenany part of the paperwork you need to confirm that the tenant was given a copy of the EPC along with other paperwork upon signing, if these procedures were not follow you will struggle to evict. So with both these findings I do not think and agency was used or it is a very bad one.

Also someone mentioned if number 4 was put on the market shortly after LC disappearance. Usually agencies do an EPC when put on the market one was done on 5th September 2018 (as per attached SS) so that is likely around the time it went up for sale

Yes, #4 was up for sale in Sept 2018 and sold in June 2019

Unless it had been placed in something that was airtight, or in an area that had been made airtight e.g. new plasterboard and plastered over perhaps.

Anyone who has been in that property in the past couple of years would have smelled something surely.

Also if the owner/s knew there was a body hidden in the walls/ceiling, why would they have called cleaners in who would almost certainly smell something? Were the cleaners called in to deal with something in particular? A leak? The smell?

Just thinking out loud, it sounds like the belongings were found before the body. It doesn't sound like it was the body or a smell etc that raised the alarm. The Police have then probably came in and started tearing the house apart. If it was cleaners as reported in MSM, I wonder where they would have been? The cleaners aren't going to be pulling up the floorboards or the like, which might suggest the belongings were more out in the open? Which has potential implications.

I wish the family knew how much we care here. We never gave up on Leah, and we always knew she hadn’t run away. When they lost Haydon, we were devastated for them all. I hope Leah can be back with her family soon.
I feel very much the same, we see the banners and posters of Leah in MK, as we travel, I kept a look out just in case. I hope that the family can gain some comfort that they are being kept in the thoughts of total strangers who wanted a much better outcome.

I have no idea if it's against the WS rules, and apologies if it is, but I have to visit MK this weekend and am happy to take some flowers or similar on behalf of us all here.

I wonder why go to all that trouble to (allegedly) conceal a body if the bag is left out for anyone to find?
Doesn't make sense IMO.

Nice thought but imho the house where she was discovered should not be turned into a shrine or anything, police need to be left in peace to focus on how she died and who killed her and nothing else, leaving flowers at the scene would be a distraction imho

Agree bizarre. Why on earth weren’t the possessions destroyed, disposed of, taken abroad, umpteen options other than leaving them in a house in open sight where someone is going to enter some time, even if that’s not soon

I've read a few times that her belongings were discovered in the attic of the house

Flowers from WS forumites were left for Libby Squire who vanished around the same time as Leah, iirc. I think it is a lovely thing to do.

RIP Leah. Have followed this case from the start here. We lost our daughter, 22, only child, in 2018 to sudden adult death syndrome so know what the parents must be going through. Not the same, even worse for them knowing she's been murdered.

I think rose has perhaps answered it.

I guess that's a semi-well-hidden area, I wonder what the cleaners were doing up in the attic, doesn't seem like there is any stairs access from the plan of a similar house posted by Nikynoo. That's a very bold approach IMO instead of another option such as burning them (trophy potentially?) and to me would suggest the person was at the least very well linked to the owners and knew of their future plans for the property if true and had the ability to go back and remove them if needed.

JMO.

Daily Mail has another article from 2017 which has alarmingly similar photos to the so-called "paedophile."

Might this be a ruse? Might it be a distraction? Bit weird, considering he was in prison when LC went missing and yet this story is being plastered everywhere.

Mainstream media means I can post this, I believe. I'm new but want to do the best I can to bring light to the important stuff, while remaining within the terms.
