Summary from article above......

2001 12-month prison sentence for the 1998 rape of a girl under 16
2002 jailed for a futher four years for three similar offences.
2009 jailed for four years and 10 months for the rape of a woman in Datchett
Further convictions for sexual activity with a child
2016 he was accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl but the case dropped before reaching court.
1 year for rape of a child and 4 years (1.3 years each) for 3 other offences, 4 years 10 months (out in half for rape of an adult?

Justice system is a sick joke, raping a child should carry 30 year term

For accuracy, that only applies to England and Wales. The law is different in Scotland. As far as I have seen, we don't know where he died.
There was a post further back in the thread showing his death was registered in Milton Keynes

Slight side step but 12 MONTH sentence for the rape of a girl under 16!? WTH. That's what they threaten for not paying a speeding ticket. Disgusting.

Lurker, been following from the beginning, I just think it is incredibly convenient that we have a dead sexual offender as the only suspect. So many questions… who authorised his comings and goings to Loxbeare Drive, who issued maintenance jobs, if the owners are based overseas they would either use an agent or a trusted person to oversee lettings, tenants, property maintenance etc. If it was a holiday home used annually then surely it would be short term lets and someone must have been responsible for inventories, end of tenancy cleans etc even making sure no burst pipes if unoccupied for a long period. Other people must of had access to keys.
Something doesn’t sit right with me, was Maxwell‘s death suicide or did he know too much???
My thoughts are with Leah’s family and friends at this sad time, but I hope TVP investigate this thoroughly and not just rubber stamp it as a done deal.

100% agree. So many questions and so much that doesn't make sense. Why on earth would an overseas property owner end up with someone like NM keyholding and coming and going as he pleases. Also, if NM was on the run from the police and working around doing odd jobs, wouldn't he use an alias for his work?

I've had a few jobs off gumtree where I have never actually met the owner, one job I renovated a flat for 3 months, keys were posted to my address, work done, invoices paid, keys posted back..

Jesus christ, forget the police the court system in this country had several opportunities and reasons to have saved Leah by keeping this waste of flesh locked up.

12 f'ing months... jesus.

In the DT article linked above it says NM found work as a maintenance man for a property management business and had access to the keys for the house where LC was found.

Can only summarise as I believe it's sub only.

I went through our local (Kelso) papers website and fb and the county police fb, no appeals for his whereabouts. I should say I love about equally between helps and lockerbie, there was no appeals for him here in the Borders.
Maybe the police stopped with appeals as he kept managing to evade them.

Agree

I live on the Dorset/Wiltshire border and none of my family or friends or colleagues had heard of Leah even after 3 years, knew nothing about the case until headlines of last couple of days
That's because murders attract national media attention whereas missing persons don't unless it involves a minor.

They had no reason or legal basis to search an empty property, there could have been several on her route, hypothetically if they had done this and turned up nothing they would have a lot of complaints from home owners and everyone would be saying they wasted resources, seems like they can't do right for doing wrong.

Newport Pagnell and Furzton are close but not necessarily what I would classify as the local area.
I have said in previous posts, nothing about him was known, his access to this property, being in the local area at all, as far as the police were aware there was an active warrant for him, they had attempted arrest ~18 times all over the country, he was on the run until his suicide.
The only reason a link was made was the estate agent finding what they did on Monday, then the property was a lead, which when followed led to the suspect.

What you say seems true - at the time, there was nothing to connect L to the house, nothing to connect NM to the house, and nothing to connect L to NM.

What I'm very surprised about is how quickly the police established that NM was connected.

Sarah Everard was a missing person until she wasn't. Lots of factors come into play as to whether a case gets a lot of media attention or not. This case was always baffling by the fact it didn't.

I can’t see how he hasn’t committed other murders given his history.

Should be able to obtain this information from the coroner's office in Crown hill. I don't think you need a reason or have to be related either. It appears he commit suicide here given it was mk recorded death.

I can't believe how he was not already in jail.

Maybe that’s what gave him the confidence to murder…repeat serious sexual offending with little repercussions…someone with a perverse mindset could start to think…. what else can I get away with?

Whaaat? He only got a 12 month sentence for raping a girl under 16??

It beggars belief he was let out so many times just to commit the same offences over and over again.

The law in this country is seriously flawed when it comes to sentencing sex offenders.

I thought they had to go through some sort of rehab programme if they were a SO?

What I'm very surprised about is how quickly the police established that NM was connected.
Once they have the house as a crime scene, they have the owner, from the owner they get the management agents, from there they get the records of active maintenance workers they had onside at the time.

It's really that simple, the house being the crime scene connects everything

Looks like he chose victims he could coerce/control. Maybe Leah was able to put up more resistance than expected and it escalated to this.

1 month later he's committed suicide because he can't live with his actions.

So the police seemed to manage arresting NM previously to convict him and send him to jail numerous times (albeit not for long enough). So why suddenly such difficulty finding him in relation to those assaults prior to Leah's disappearance?
