A YOUNG East Kilbride man has vanished after a night out in Glasgow city centre.

A major search has been launched by officers following the disappearance of Lewis Simpson who is just 20 years old.

Police said he was last seen on John Street at around 1 am on Sunday.

He had been with friends in the city centre before he vanished.

Lewis is described as white and around 5ft 8 inches.

He has blonde short hair and is of slim build.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket which police have released a picture of, black jeans and brown shoes.

So many of these similar stories nowadays. Looking at Google Maps, my main worry would be that the River Clyde is not that far away from where he was last seen. I hope it is not another case of an intoxicated young person ending up in the river. :(

Cops still searching for young people missing after nights out in Glasgow
Meanwhile a separate appeal was launched to help find Lewis, from East Kilbride.


The 20-year-old was last seen in Montrose Street in Glasgow city centre around 1am on Sunday morning following a night out at Strathclyde Student Union.

Cops released a picture of the lad and an image of a coat he was wearing in a bid to help with their search efforts.

Inspector Aidan Higgins of East Kilbride Andrew Street police station said: “Along with his family, we are becoming increasingly concerned for Lewis’ welfare.

"It is very out of character for him to be out of contact with family.

“There was a potential sighting of Lewis this morning, Tuesday, 25 February, in the Broomiehall area of Glasgow.

UPDATE - MISSING PERSON - LEWIS SIMPSON

Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde near Mavisbank Gardens, around 11.45am on Wednesday, 25 March, 2020.

The man is still to be formally identified but the family of 20-year-old Lewis Simpson – who had been reported missing on Sunday, 23 February, 2020 – have been informed.

The death is been treated as unexplained, however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
