Not saying I understand how the police do things, but I would like to assume for my own peace of mind that they immediately suspected him, spoke to him, checked his car and house for evidence etc. Or do they just speak to him, check he has an alibi and leave it at that? I would hope not, especially not at this stage of still not finding her. Another similar thing that worries me is- are they actually checking inside people's houses and gardens? Or just knocking on the door, asking if they've seen anything and then leaving?! Surely not. They should be searching every house in the area, surely. I think I've mentioned this before, but if you have nothing to hide, you would let them look for her wherever they asked to... Right?

WOW. That is actually terrifying. I would like to compare to the crime in my own area for some sort of reference.

Anyone else find the Sun article had new information on the student witness that saw her get dropped off.



Nothing else said the Taxi driver helped her up and as far as I can recall didn’t they / he say in earlier interview they didn’t say anything as it’s not unusual for students to be stumbling drunk.

I’m on my phone so can’t pull up where I read this , I could be wrong but this stood out for me.

I've seen this info on this thread a couple of days ago. It's not new.

Can anyone clarify these points for me?

1. Libby being 'outside for an hour or more' and therefore vulnerable to hypothermia:

- - where in the timeline does an hour become relevant? 11.30 taxi drop off, 12.09 last sighting makes just under 40 minutes to me. is that enough time to put you in a hypothermic state? (genuine question)

2. Libby being 'fall down drunk':

- - we know she was too drunk to get into the club. But some 45+ minutes later, this is eyewitness account only by the 2 neighbours

- - other witness account says 'a distressed state', not fall down drunk

Just trying to separate speculation from facts.

I have not yet seen this piece of information until now. That makes me increasingly worried about the "ending up in the drain" theory.

I just read something similar to this, think it might have been an expanded version - there was a closing note about Steven Wallace being found in the Barmston Drain after being missing for 2 weeks.

I'm just wondering, do you or does anyone else here know how long the police will keep searching? Is there some sort of time limit on these cases? Or do they keep searching until the complete search radius has been looked over, or until they've investigated all leads but found nothing etc.? I am hopeful they will find her tomorrow but I also have an unnerving feeling that this may end up an unsolved mystery.

I’m sure it’s on a case by case basis and depending on leads etc. But eventually as they tick off boxes, the numbers of police searching will eventually dwindle. They can only sustain the overtime and all-hands-on-deck for so long.

I really hope it isn’t the latter and another family has to suffer like Corrie McKeague’s.

I wouldn't read too much into that right now. The local Major Crime unit was also involved in the search for Corrie McKeague. I think it's more that they can bring specialist resources and training into the search and ensure that every possibility is covered.

To be fair, I live in Lincolnshire, and drafting in officers from other units doesn't surprise me at all nor does it (to me) indicate that they suspect foul play. Hull is technically in east Yorkshire but is very close to Lincolnshire, so close that Lincolnshire local news usually covers Hull as well. The areas around Hull are mostly rural and whilst it is a city with a decent population, they likely have an underfunded police force who simply don't have the numbers to dedicate this number of officers to this one case for this long. The logical thing to do is draft in officers from the nearest Major Crime Team, which would be that of north Lincolnshire. The Major Crime Team doesn't have officers to spare, per say, but they're there for larger incidents to help out nearby police forces who need the extra help. They're not just for murders, they're for any incident which is in need of extra resources and/or specialist knowledge.
