Quick scout on street view where Heathcote Street meets Wellesley, there is a garage with big wooden doors, could that be the slamming she heard? Or could the wooden slamming sound be made by van doors? There's a big white van parked up outside on Street view.

This is not good at all.

This really isn't good either:

Humberside Police have still not come around to take a statement after she reported the incident on Saturday evening.

A neighbour claims to have heard a woman’s “blood curdling” screams the night Libby Squire vanished.

The mum-of-two says she was reading in bed when she heard the panicked cry of a woman in the street outside.

The scream was allegedly heard just around the corner from netball player Libby’s terraced shared student house on Wellesley Avenue.

The concerned mum of two, who lives in nearby Heathcote Street near where it joins Wellesley Avenue, said: “We did hear screaming at 12.30 on Thursday night.

“I was just in bed reading. We do get a lot of students who live in the road that Libby lives in who use this road as a cut through.

“They go passed screaming, shouting and singing. It’s not unusual.

“But this made us sit up. It sounded like someone being attacked. The scream sounded like it was coming from someone who was scared.

“It was someone walking quite close past our house. It was just one female scream.

“It was really shrill and urgent. It made me sit up and think ‘Oh my God’.

“Then we heard other voices muttering very low, murmuring and then more screams and more male voices.

“Then we heard the slamming of a door. It sounded like a wooden door or a garden gate.

“It was just very odd,” added the woman, a Hull University graduate aged in her early 30s whose dad is a retired policeman.

“We didn’t think about it again until the police came round knocking on everybody’s doors on Saturday,” she recalled.

“We talked about it and remembered the scream and rang 101.”

Presumably if she heard the slamming of a door/gate then it would be on the same road, Heathcote Street? Have the police been searching down that particular road do we know?

Interestingly Heathcote Street leads almost directly to the house Libby lives in on Wellesley Avenue - could she have gone down this road sometime after midnight to get back home?

Yes it looks like quite an obvious route from the bench to her house.

I'm furious the police haven't followed this up

I would hope this means Police know that that isn't related.

The slamming of a wooden door or gate...there is a garage at both ends of Heathcote Street, both with big wooden doors.

How would they know without checking with the woman though. That said, if she heard it, chances are someone else should have.

I'm hoping it is a case of Police already knowing who/what that incident was (e.g. multiple reports) and have just failed, or not had time, to inform her it isn't related?

It would be a bad look for Humberside Police if they have neglected to follow up such a report.

View from corner of Wellesley where it joins Heathcote.

I think it could be. Article says "The mum-of-two, who lives round the corner, said she heard the scream 45 minutes after the last confirmed sighting of Libby in Hull".

Puzzled why LE did not come round to talk to this woman.

There is a direct line of sight from Libbys front door to that garage too. It's about 30 metres maybe.

Police launched a massive search to try and find Libby on Friday evening, with dozens of officers seen combing the area around Beverley Road, Cottingham Road and Haworth Street.

They were also going door-to-door to ask people for information.

Searches have continued since then, with officers concentrating on the area around Haworth Street, Beresford Avenue and Wellesley Avenue.

No mention of searching Heathcote Street at all; have they just dismissed the neighbours information as not being credible or for some reason are they holding back information?

It does seem odd. But then there were a few people in the Corrie Mckeague case who had info which the police allegedly didn't take statements from, so perhaps it's common?

What are the chances that a blood curdling scream and a woman going missing around the same time, and both events in very close proximity, are not related?

Incidentally, if one were so inclined to prey on the vulnerable, whether for financial or sexual gratification, what better scout could you have than a taxi driver? They pick up all drunk people who probably divulge all sorts of info, they know where you live, whether you're young or elderly, whether you're off on holiday with your suitcase and leaving a house empty etc. Its a lot of info that could be used by bad people.

Not for one moment suggesting this taxi driver has anything to do with the case. Just thinking out loud.

I agree with you. It is shocking I don’t understand not calling the police straight away. What is happening in society where some people can’t be bothered looking out for others in danger?

Every single one or just random ones? That would be a *lot* of camera coverage!

I think at some point Libby left the bench in order to head home, probably to see if her housemates were back from the club. It's likely she headed down Beresford Avenue, then took a left into Heathcote Street. If the neighbour is correct in hearing a distressed female scream, then male voices (presumably 2 or more) is it possible that Libby was abducted in this road? Could the door the neighbour heard slam be a car or van door? I hope this is not the case but it's a possibility if the neighbour is to be believed.

Completely agree about the route.

The article is quite specific about it sounding wooden like a gate. I would be taking the sniffer dogs up and down Heathcote, focusing on the two garages and the various wooden gates. I think there's a good chance she could still be close by, potentially alive and held against her will.
