Does anyone know how many times a suspect has been held for the full 96 hours and been released without charged and not later been re-arrested in connection with the same incidenct. I'm wondering how unusual it would be.
It would be pointless to rearrest someone if the full 96 hours had been used unless they were to charge them immediately afterwards. They wouldn't be able to detain them.

Did anyone notice he was saying “she WAS” that was suspicious to me as I believe it was recorded the day after she went missing?

I don't know if you've had time to read the first thread, we discussed it there and iirc the general consensus was nerves or following the lead of the interviewer.

Hi all,

I’ve been lurking this thread for a few days now but not actually posted, not sure if this has already been mentioned or if it’s even of any relevance so apologies in advance but has anyone noticed the self harm marks on Libby’s arms and legs in photos of her? Could she have been suicidal and her body has been taken away by the river? I know self harm doesn’t always mean that person is necessarily wanting to kill themselves and it’s used as a coping mechanism in a lot of people but just a thought. I suppose I’m clutching at straws because it seems the police must have something on PR to be holding him for so long .. we’ll find out tonight when they either release or charge him I suppose.
I had noticed the red marks, was not sure of their cause.

Welcome to the thread, it has been discussed, I think the only answer is that we dont know, I think it's a possibility although maybe only a small one as the police don't appear to be considering it

That’s what I would like to know. Dogs can do a lot more than a human can at times like this. Have they used dogs in any of the searches? Especially in the suspects house?
With the extensive use of infra red cameras and hyper sensitive listening equipment it would appear they are still working on the assumption that she is alive.

Surely you would think they can bring in cadaver dogs to try help locate if she has died, where she's died,if s body was in his car?

I'm sure they've run cadavers over his car. However, would his job skew any findings? He probably puts dirty work clothes in the boot at the end of a shift.

So, if you are originally arrested on a charge of abduction, released after 96 you can't then later be arrested on a charge of say manlaughter. Is that right?

The reporter referred to Libby as 'was' twice before he did. He was saying 'is' before the reporters referral. Think he was just nervously mirroring bless him.

Ahh was it, my apologies. No I haven’t had chance to read everything. I’ve been following since the 2nd thread. You’re right, he could have been following the lead but it just struck me as a smidge odd that he switched between talking about her as though she had died and then like she was still around.

Thank you, I missed this. Quite possibly then! It must be a terrible time for her loved ones.

Yeh I watched it again earlier as I must admit I was a bit suspicious.

It is the reporter who refers to her as 'Was' first he just mirrors it.

I feel bad for even thinking bad things now when I first watched it.

They have arrested a man who they believe has abducted Libby based on CCTV footage. People are now jumping from a human trafficking conspiracy to blaming her friend. He was at the club and said goodbye to her. There would be many witnesses who could back the fact he stayed at the club.

I think only scent dogs have been used (early on)? The fact we haven't seen or heard of cadaver dogs does sort of go along with the Police insisting this is still only a missing person case?

As others have noted it does appear Police are searching in ways that seem to indicate she might be being held alive (suspect is in custody on sus of abduction) so possibly it is believed there is another person involved and Police have desperately tried to get him to tell them who?

All seems highly unlikely reading it back, though....o_O

The taxi that picked L up from the club when she was refused entry, was it a legal taxi or an illegal one, was it the same person they have in custody? Was it there that he picked her up and put her address in the Sat Nav or was it a completely different vehicle and driver? If she got home and didn't go inside, could she have realised she didn't have her keys after getting out of the taxi as it would explain why she didn't go inside.

I don't think he'd be allowed to leave his place of work in his uniform due to his role. As daft as that sounds workplaces follow a strict hygeine process .

Yes you can be re-arrested on other charges if released.

I think the courts would take a very dim view on the police if that was to happen immediately and without concrete evidence though.

I think they will charge him with abduction tonight then bring further charges later.

The taxi that picked her up from the club and took her home is completely irrelevant at this point, the driver was cleared days ago. The suspect is not the taxi driver from the club. The suspect is a completely different person with a different car, plus it has not actually been confirmed that the suspect even is an illegal taxi driver whatsoever.

I would be extremely interested to know whether the suspect went to work the day after LS disappeared, or any of the days after that, and whether he mentioned the LS situation to anyone at work, or was acting strangely before his arrest on Wednesday.

No I don't think it would confuse the dogs. They are trained specifically to detect human remains afaik.
