Language line i think its called
Yep - plus there’s a 24 hour phone bank of interpreters who work via speakerphone too. The NHS uses them sometimes.

I guess the Police are preparing a press release for the ten o'clock news on TV and Radio?

I didn't think of that. It's definitely a possibility.

Not necessarily. A new poster has shed light and I think it makes much more sense. Heat and sounds produced by decomposition.
A dead body will reduce in temperature until it acclimatises with it's surroundings. Decomposition in this weather would be very slow, it wouldn't produce anything like a useful detectable signature unless a very very very small area is being searched.

Cucumber sandwiches have to be made by the captain's wife and it's not even cricket season.
:eek:WTH? Who's the Captain? Tennil is his wife?

I’m pouring vodka, rolling god knows what and doing the ironing with one hand and refreshing the page with the other

We should get married, you sound perfect for me.
Welcome, by the way!!

Oh. Thank you for that. I hope the other poster sees it! I took the other information for granted.

Edit: two other posters disagree. It sounds like there really is specialist equip ent that can detect decomposition...

ITV News is on at 22:00 but BBC not until 23:00 (BAFTAs).

Officer Dibble's right. Any announcement (on this kind of subject) would appear on the next national news bulletin, not at a random time, like 9.39pm as a newsflash.

Yes we use Language line at work. They are available 24/7 via telephone also bearing in mind Polish is a very common language so can't see there would be much problem getting a translator

Just to be clear, a decomposing body would not be producing enough heat after 10 days to be detectable by the kind of infrared camera used by the police.

The point about using a microphone to pick up the sound made by a decomposing body is presumably a joke, in rather poor taste.

I sense a bit of frustration from the Hull Mail.

I'm not surprised, they've done a fantastic job keeping their page updated, I imagine they're as knackered as some of us are. HullLive, if you're listening, come over here for a stiff drink!

Mr Lahey, Welcome!

Thank you. I found this page during the Samantha Eastwood case. I live locally and was impressed with the info this site had collected, it represents many many hours of work. Cheers

I agree, however, online media can release news at any time? Although it seems it won't get as much coverage as these stupid Baftas.

The police force now employ a lot of Polish officers. So can't see translation being a problem

You still need a formally qualified translator - translating is a delicate business because a slight shift in interpretation can have huge repercussions.

Normally they say ahead of time that there will be a presser at 10pm for instance- but this? Nothing? Nada? Not a bloody sausage? LITERALLY NOTHING ANYWHERE- I am slowly going nuts.

Hi all. Been reading this thread since yesterday but only just logged in to post. Can only begin to wonder what the parents are going though. The not knowing. We lost our daughter, only child, 22, last April to sudden adult death syndrome so can sympathise with the anguish. Not that we know she's dead.

They are not short of Polish officers and staff at Humberside police. I doubt finding a translator would be an issue.

I'm not sure I really want to know the answer, but what sort of noises - escaping gases?

Yes things like that, I wont go into details at this time as it is inappropriate but I have a very good friend who works in this arena.
