No one is getting charged until they find Libby so the specific crime can be identified.

This is not the first rodeo for most people here! We all know how this goes.

Of course PR is the guy in the video. And of course that is Libby.

That is why the CCTV was released!

The question is not what car did she get into but where did she go.

I hope I am wrong but they have questioned him for days, searched his house with SOCO, done the same with his car, reviewed hundreds of hours of cctv and had hundreds of calls from the public. All that and he gets charged with stealing sex toys. It doesn’t make sense.

We see this all the time here in other cases, they have to charge him with something concrete and be able to hold him as they build their case.

Oh wow, it gets worse. At first he was either going to be charged or released, then these unexpected charges. I am sure most people were thinking burglary as in mainly items of value and perhaps public flashing. Not public masturbation and stealing sex toys. This really makes him a perfect fit to take advantage of some vulnerable girl.

Lots of the worse kind of criminals do things right in the same area believing they can't be caught and have items from their victims. People, probably because of movies associate this behaviour with some scruffy middle aged looking guy when a lot of serial killer types look normal, have a normal (outwardly) life, normal height, normal weight etc. This often leads to them not being suspected.

I still believe the police think she is deceased as they are likely to have gone with him being released so they can monitor him if he has her held, because if they truly believe he has her captive some place then by him being held now, she would have no chance.

The police have even said he’s still a person of interest in her disappearance?

I think it’s clear they haven’t got enough evidence to charge him with anything in connection to Libby. That doesn’t mean there’s no evidence at all though. The charging standards for a crime like abduction or murder are high, and we have no idea how close they were to having enough on him (or granted, they may have nothing at all. I think the fact he’s still a person of interest suggests otherwise though)

LE very obviously believes he is responsible for Libby's death but doesn't have the evidence to prove it yet. Hopefully they will find it.

To drop charges of murder, LE needs proof

1. Libby is dead

2. She died via an unlawful act committed by the defendent

These are hard things to charge when no one knows where libby is!

So glad they are keeping this creep in custody. I hope they find evidence to charge him soon in Libby's case.

Hull Live Facebook have done a video recording summing up outside the court

If police were in any doubt that it was not P. smoking in CCTV footage, wouldn’t they have put out an appeal by now asking for the man and woman in question to come forward so that they can be eliminated from enquiries? The only reasons I can think of for them not coming forward is if they were at an illegal activity (prostitution - meeting arranged by text, meet me at this corner and we’ll drive to a local park carpark?) or were unaware that police are seeking info on CCTV (it’s really only been focused on by newspapers, no appeal by police on mainstream news.)

Police always say it is a missing persons investigation until they find hard evidence of death.
That's not true. They are investigating Claudia Lawrence as murder with no firm evidence of death

Exactly. Unfortunately and I hate to say it, this sounds like a recovery mission. My focus as a sleuther at this time is identifying potential disposal methods and locations, sorry to say.

I would also speculate that dismemberment is a possibility IM0 since he’s a butcher. Searching the drains is obviously for blood or tissue evidence, etc. I’m assuming they needed a warrant for that (again I don’t know anything about LE Procedure in these types of instances in the UK). It is plausible that blood evidence could exist in the drains, but not necessarily due to dismemberment, but rather washing away evidence (shower after murder).

The fact of him being married with children imo is an indicator that he has harmed her. If he was a single guy and was presented with the opportunity to take advantage of Libby and she rejected him, at worse he would be charged with a much lesser crime which overall wouldn't impact his life greatly.

Because he has this hidden life and perversions, he wants his outwardly appearance to be that of a normal fmaily life and man, so if Libby rejected him and he was reported his whole life would be destroyed and that in itself is the indicator he had to silence her.

Yes, but a certain amount of time usually has to elapse before they officially say they are investigating a murder when there is no body.

Happy to be corrected if I've got this wrong but did he not admit to meeting her the night she disappeared?
He has not.

So his sister told the media that Libby was in his car for a joke then? I can't decide whether you're actually being serious or not.

LE very obviously believes he is responsible for Libby's death but doesn't have the evidence to prove it yet. Hopefully they will find it.
We don’t know why his sister said that. LE would have confirmed this with her surely.

I think it's been useful to him as a cover. We even had people on here saying no way he could be implicated in Libby's disappearance because he's a normal family man!

The quote from his sister also highlighted this with respect to Libby supposedly throwing herself at him - he pushed her away because he was a married man. Personally I think that excuse came straight from him.
Yeah for some reason I didn’t believe that either lol

You may have missed the connection between stealing women's property and sexually motivated murder. Together with burglary and voyuerism, there is a very strong link. As others have posted up thread, him doing these things in Libby's street is extremely unlikely to be a coincidence.

stealing sex toys or underwear is not to be taken lightly and the police know that.
I am reviewing what we know not what is coincidental.

I suspect that more people will come forward to report buglaries, I can imagine that in a predominantly student area if you come home and find your condoms or sex toys are missing you're won't necessarily think you've been robbed, you might assume you'd misplaced them or not even notice. I might be wrong but I can't see many students making a report to the police especially if they don't have insurance or haven't lost high value items.

We may find his list of pervy thefts is considerably longer

Again its really common that these types of offenders start out in areas familiar to themselves.

Thankfully most get caught before they come sophisticated

Tabak is a very good example of someone who got caught on his first murder but showed a clear pattern of acting out and escalation
Could his wife deep down have had some idea about some of these things just saying how did he do all this right under wife’s nose
