I personally think police are getting colder and colder as the hours and days go on and couldn’t be further away from finding Libby. Not sure why they’re focussing so much on the pond and the playing fields. The river needs to be looked at!
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think someone said that the river is not far from the ocean? If this is the case, I feel like so much time has passed that they wouldn't know where to look in the river/ocean. They seem to have the manpower to search locally and in relatively small/contained areas. If she is not found locally, then I would think they have no idea where to even begin (ocean...). If the river is more contained, please let me know...thanks

I've seen quite a few parks where there is a house within the boundaries, like the red brick house in Oak Road park. If the land was part of an estate, single houses are usually lodges, and you can get workers houses as well, for gardeners, stable hands etc, that have been converted for current occupany. There appear to be several residents reporting the screams, so it's either the workers houses or they live on a residential street very close to the park.

The brick building there looks to me like a maintenance / workshop type facility. Even though it's fenced from the car park it's still within the bounds of the park. Perhaps it's used for other general municipal functions. It's just not that attractive as I have seen a street view image here from the lot next to it. Very few windows, etc. Just doesn't look like a residence

JMO Though.

The fact that they are now releasing more footage makes me think that they really need new leads. Before, I felt like LE were keeping information to themselves to protect the investigation.

Is LE releasing footage?

I am struggling with whether police know exactly what they are doing by sticking only to the park or if they simply have no other leads and don’t know where else to search.

Normally, I credit LE with doing everything for very specific reasons, but after reading about the crime explosion in Hull over recent times and some opinions of the local police and their (lack of) effectiveness from locals...don’t know what to think.

Also...from what I gather with regards to UK law, unless new evidence is found, or a confession drops into their lap, PR cannot be hauled back in with reference to Libby’s disappearance. Correct me, any UK legal experts...

I suspect they have firm evidence that places her on the park - so they keep looking there to be thorough

But there is no point randomly looking around the city

I agree about random searching. Am guessing that PR’s car stayed within a small radius on camera at least, so if they are convinced he is their suspect, no real reason to veer off into other areas. Still, the searching seems odd to me, a bit today, a bit more another day, etc...

There’s only so long they can honestly go on thinking that this is a missing persons case surely?

Very true. If she is not at the park, then it's a waiting game until her remains are found at some random location.

I haven’t been able to keep up with the thread for the last couple of days because it’s speeding along!

Forgive me if somebody else has mentioned this possibility, but could Libby have scaled a tree to escape from a pursuer? There seem to be many large trees skirting the park and I think climbing out of eyesight might be a reflex some people would have in this kind of situation...

I hope the police have spent some resouces checking tree canopies.

Unless he put her back in the car then dumped her elsewhere but I think they would have more forensic evidence from the car if that happened

Just putting the police website posts near the start of new thread, there are some earlier reports that don’t appear on my basic search

If she was in the car at any time, there may be evidence in the car, such as hair, but wouldn't it be difficult to determine whether she was in the car once or twice?

I’m also confused at to why the river doesn’t seem to have been checked at all. They should be checking several hundred meters down stream. The Hull river is tidal so it’s hard to assume how far a body could have travelled but special attention should be given to the meanders where things could get stuck. If they leave it any longer it could be lost to sea with any remaining evidence. Part of me thinks PR is telling the police porkies

This is a question I keep asking myself. Can a thorough car valeting erase the trace of somebody so completely that sniffer dogs fail to pick up any scent? I've no idea personally. The police would obviously be able to tell if PR had his car cleaned in the days after Libby's disappearance. It would be very interesting to know whether he did, although obviously it's not something we're going to find out unless PR is charged and stands trial.

The police said on the 2nd

‘ She was last seen on CCTV on Beverley road close to the junction with Hayworth Street at around 11.45. From there she may have walked in either direction down Beverley Road, or down Hayworth Street.’

So the police said on 3rd Feb , they were keen to speak to people on Haworth but didn’t say keen to speak to people on either Beverley or Beresford ;

‘Libby got out of the taxi a short while later near her home address on Wellesley Avenue, but was later seen on CCTV on Beverley Road, close to the junction with Haworth Street at around 11.45pm.’

“We’re keen to speak to anyone who may have been on Haworth Street, which is almost adjacent to Beresford Avenue, between 11.30pm and 12.30am as part of this line of enquiry, to understand Libby’s movements that night.‘

And on Feb 4th said ;

‘She is then seen on CCTV on Beverley Road at 11.40pm, and seen near to a bench close to the bus stop and junction with Haworth Street, when a motorist stops and offers her help.

“We believe she may have been in this area until around 12.09am, and are now continuing searches in and around the neighbouring roads and streets as well as viewing further CCTV footage.’

I had a look on google the other day and the red brick house has its driveway leading up to the property on Oak Road just right hand side after the entrance to the car park. I can see that there is a fence separating the car park. When looking down on the house I first thought it was part of the park and was maybe a lodge house, but now having seen the driveway think it may be a private property. I could be wrong though.

I also highly doubt if she was ever in a tree that she'd still be in the tree 13 days later.

@12.15 through 12.30
Girl heard screaming in park just minutes after Libby Squire vanished
Same witness' father: "My son heard the screaming - he heard about six or seven screams - and he went to look out of the window. He said it sounded like he was moving. It was intermittent. The man he saw wasn't dressed for a night out. He wasn't dressed for the weather. He saw him running for around 40 yards, sprinting at times. He said he was on his own and he wasn’t looking back."
Libby Squire: Police examining CCTV footage which may show missing student
Bit in bold - critical where he was seen running from. Presumably the police know and are focusing there searches in those areas of the park.
