It confusing because the policy is confused.

It doesn't make a great deal of sense.

Example:

Someone on Twitter, Facegram, Instabook etc posts a theory, point of view or opinion of their own. You are not allowed to refer to it or repeat it.
VERBOTEN

Someone on here posts a theory, point of view or opinion of their own, no matter how crazy and without any evidence for their crackpot theory.
Fill your boots.
WUNDERBAR

Hope it makes sense to someone because it make no sense to me.
Surely if someone is local and local people tell them things. They can repeat those things on here? There's no rules about that?

Today on the thread ,imho, we ( including myself) have lost sight somewhat. It's not a competition to see who is the brightest, sharpest, wittiest. Or who has the best local knowledge or most plausible theories.

Disregarding any ulterior motives or selfish obsessions,we must strive to remember that we are all on the same side.

Today reminded me of an exchange of posts from another, less classy, platform that I chanced upon recently.

Basically 50 posts shouting at each other , one faction trying to insist that MSM had been wrong and insensitive in the circumstances to report that , and I paraphrase, ' ....police are searching a body of water.....' while the other faction were trying to explain that '....searching a body of water....' had a different meaning to ' ..searching for a body IN the water....'

Like watching faeces-slinging time at the zoo.

It's Goodnight from me.

I hope I awake to news that will have brought comfort, in whatever form, to those people who are genuinely close to LS.

:)

The above is lifted or rehashed in a tabloid paper (possibly inaccurately), and then it's legitimate to discuss it.

Jmo,you used to be able to repeat local rumors as long as clearly marked as RUMORS...not sure if still the case, always better to check first...jmo

You can repost stuff as "an idea you have been having"

To be fair, there tends to be a bit of leeway, as long as people don't blatantly post libellous nonsense from facebook

First time poster but have followed from thread 1! You lot are GOOOOOD!
(I started writing this post at page 30... so likely all covered by now and you can
With regards to this article ahttps://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...arance-Libby-Squire-insists-hes-innocent.html
About which is her house, is it 29/31/15 etc
Ok, so it’s the Daily Mail (shudder) so possibly not totally reliable but
The caption underneath picture 32 says about sniffer dogs entering LS’s property. If you zoom in on the number on the door, I’m pretty confident it says 29. Apologies if this had been covered. So many pages.

Oooh that new CCTV. I see a running man in a bright coloured top.
Then a cyclist going one way and back the other. Appears to be the same one.
Then 2 people. I don’t think they’re dogs though but their shadows

I’m not sure if I double quoted something by accident, but if I did, I can’t see it and now I’ve got to the end of the tread, what I’d typed about them has disappeared and I can’t remeber what it was.

I’ll slink back to just reading.

No, it's not the only one that fits. No 15 is just 7 doors down and 32 is bang opposite. So what makes you so certain it's that one, when there is a photo of a different house (32) also captioned as being Libbys and yet another house (15) being forensically searched?

i think i need to fall on my sword over this one, It seems theres conflicting captions being put on photos, i was just taking the narrative at face value. but i have found this link with police outside no 32 wellesley from itv news. Libby Squire's parents make emotional plea to missing daughter its about five photos down the page. youve probably seen it already.

Welcome! :) I also thought that they were just shadows and not dogs. IIRC the police didn't mention dogs either. What interests me is why the cyclist would be riding up and down the road towards the playing fields at such an odd time of night. I hope that the people in the new CCTV come forward and identify themselves sooner rather than later.

Would any shops be open?
Seems awfully late though to be ‘popping’ out though.
I’ve never realised I needed milk or whatever that late.
But, nothing is open where I live past 10pm, and that’s only 1 shop.

I do hope the people come forward to LE who are in the cctv footage..the first guy running then looks back.. I wonder did he hear something got frightened and ran esp in the dark and at that time of the morning..saying that you would think if that was the case he would have come forward by now to say this!

I wondered if there's a petrol station nearby, or another 24 hour shop. The cyclist (who went there and back in 10 ins) could have been someone going to get wine or cigs or loo roll etc

Good find, I hadn't seen it. I guess ITV might be considered a safer source than the others we found. Wonder if those sniffer dogs at 29 were at the boy students house, the ones who saw her on the street. Anyway, we'd better not rehash it all as it's still not conclusive, but thanks for finding that and posting it.

Agreed. There's a big difference between writing, for example, "Hmmm, I wonder if the CCTV from the supermarket might have covered the bench" to "Barbara from Tesco says there is definitely CCTV covering the bench".

The former is speculation, musings, theory, personal conjecture. Some people might read more into it, sometimes it might have been intended for us to read between the lines. It's vague, deliberately.

The latter quickly becomes fact, grows legs, and next thing you know Websleuths gets done for spreading untrue rumours. This is why we let MSM tell us about Barbara first, so nobody can blame us when it gets repeated, we can prove a source. It's called covering our arses.

I can't see any obvious shop/garage on StreetView? Then again I know I wouldn't go down such a path that late at night. Looks super sketchy!

Hard to imagine shopping at that hour but I don’t live in a city so feel some what out of the loop of 24 hour living.
It doesn’t look like an area you’d just bike but it’s also most likely a really simple explanation.

I've done a couple of screenshots
The first is a petrol station on Stoneferry Road (says it's 24 hours). The circled area is the CCTV location

The second is a 24 hour petrol station further down Beverley Road. Much safer to get to I would say if desperate for something (Wellesley Ave area at the top of the image)

Yes, I have just used Street View to travel in the whole circle showing on the latest CCTV map and there is definitely doesn't appear to be any late night off licences/supermarkets. It also seems a very odd route to take at that night. There's a Sainsbury's on the corner of Beverley Road and Clough but that closes at 12pm.

Thank you. I'm guessing though if you were going to that second one from the park, you'd go straight down Beresford, quicker and safer?

Could the cyclist have got there, bought something, and got back in 10 minutes?
Resident cyclist @Strontium69 (not nagging, hope you're recovering ok!) and other cyclists, what do you reckon?

I wonder why they are still looking for any info up till 2.30am ? Do they know the "suspect" drove out of the area of the park around 2.30 to 3am ? They make it clear in their new statement he is still being investigated
