But is this a trick of the mind because we’re thinking about what might have happened there?

I agree, I’m a country girl and I have a bit of an obsession with exploring remote and abandoned buildings ... but this park feels eerie. I think it’s the combination of bleak weather, graffitied abandoned spaces and the mind running over what may or may not have happened here.

Eerie seeing all the water too. The ponds, the river ...

Thank you @Strontium69 for these videos and your efforts in gettting this footage. I hope you’re feeling better. And yes, you’re right, we could view bits on google maps but this gives a much clearer impression IMO. Seeing the bench / spidercam is a little eerie too.

Yeah, depending how this case pans out, but I already look at this park in a different light...

These videos are from last week; I had intended uploading them last week but I've been incapacitated! Anyway, as this case is still parked where it was a week ago I believe it's still as relevant, in determining Libby's last steps.

Thurs, 14 Feb, was the first day they had removed the cordons from around the park. About 8am that morning I headed to the pond area to give an idea of the geography of the area;

VIDEO 1:
The end of Beresford Avenue where it terminates in a 'parking area' in front of the main entrance car park gates, locked at this time; into the park via a pedestrian 'always open' gate, and around the pond.
(Both videos previously posted last week)

VIDEO 2: Very similar to the route of VIDEO 2. However, this was later the same day, I returned with another camera in addition to the bike camera. I start the route from The Welly Club (just for the sake of completeness really) along Beverley Road to the Bench, then along Beresford Avenue and into the park. (Now that it is afternoon the carpark entrance gates are open.) Even though the cordons were removed there were still Police 'searching' around the pond and the park. I speak to a local press photographer and both sets of Police search teams.
(In both cases I didn't mean to candid record people, the mic on the bike camera is shocking and I never expected it to pick anything up. When I recorded the group of Police who were clearing brambles, it was a genuine mistake that the camera carried on recording in my pocket. I never set out to candidly record these people. I've left it n, but edited out some chunks of inaudible chuff. Apologies for the roughness of the videos!)

(I'm just going thru the vids to put a time index together, I'll update the post with that info later)

VIDEO 3: Wellesley Avenue, Beverley Road, The Bench, and it's relation to the CCTV at the junction and from 'cobweb' cam.

Fantastic insight. Thanks Strontium. In these grim circumstances you even made me laugh. ......'(camera pans up)...nothing in the canopies...... '. Sterling work all round.

The park is quite eerie. I'm a country girl and have been bought up in fields and woods. I'd think nothing of walking through a wooded area/forrest in the dark but cities give me the heebie geebies.
Something about that park though makes me feel uncomfortable, could be because it's urban yet green? Something feels wrong though.

i also grew up in the boonies in the deep south in usa, but have lived in a major eu city for the last (almost) 20 yrs . there is something far more nefarious about trails and parks surrounded by woods (to me) in europe, for whatever weird reason, and i get so spooked walking alone in them, even though i'm in one of the "safest" countries on the planet. it's something about the vibe in this one in the video, and the abandoned buildings don't help. lol. but i have a question... where i'm from, if there were ANY type of remains at ALL, and i mean anything, we would have buzzards circling the area. are there any type of birds like that or other wild animals in these city park areas that would be scavenging the general vicinity if she was anywhere in these parks? i just think if she was anywhere in these park areas she would have been found by now. by smell, animals, or somebody. wouldn't she? this is why my mind insists on wandering down the avenue of another person's involvement that immediately took her out of the area. ugh. horrible thought and i hate typing it. thank you so much for the videos tho @Strontium69 ! it's nice to have an idea of what the area looks like, in general!

As a prev poster noted, the river and the pond are really focal to that part of the park. Also, a good sense of how much scrub theyve cut. ( i think theyve prob done that too on the cut through on Oak Rd?)

Couple of Q Strontium.

1) Are there still obvious areas of similar scrub/Brush untouched?

2) Around the abandoned buildings, Im assuming there is a fairly regular use of this area...kids/ homeless/junkies(?) . Would that be correct? Hard to tell but any obvious signs of very recent habitation/camping etc?

Not sure of native birds , you would certainly get Foxes, stray dogs, feral cats maybe( domestic in breed not like the bigger wildcats lynx etc), rats....

We have birds that eat road kill but I’m never sure if they’re crows or something else.

Bit odd really, as I’ve responded to members surveys ie “Did something happen in the Park?” Relating to LS. I’ve gone with “No” and felt sure they were looking in the wrong place.
For some reason, I’m unable to continue to watch the gopro whence it enters the darn park!

I think we've pretty much exhausted all the large native wild beasts many a moon ago, ahem, probably before your great and free land was ere born! ;) The most we'd have is foxes and rats. As for carrion, probably just crows and seagulls more than anything as a 'signifier' like buzzards circling! Hull has a large fox population; there are a decent amount of parks, but also river banks and drain banks that join up these areas. And as you can see, once you make it to the river, you can pretty much make it through the city out into the country in darkness and obscurity.

That is unless you go into crypto-zoological realms...

As for the park, in panic mode it would look an obvious choice to carry out something nefarious, but in the cold light of day, as large as it is, I'm sure cadaver dogs would have picked something up? As for it being a big park, I reckon every inch is scoured by dogs' noses from locals on a weekly basis so I don't think a fresh body would stay hidden for too long from a local dog would it.

This is super useful for us non-locals to get an idea of what it's like in the areas we keep seeing in the news. Thanks so much for this! Awesome work.

1) Potentially around Croda along Oak Road... but that was where they had shifted their search this last week. I was intending to do a circuit of the Croda fence, will try and go and do that later.

2) Yeah all the time. There is an actual homeless encampment in the trees near the pond; there are remains of tents in the enclosure, but yes, it has all the signs that inner city abandoned places have; kids/homeless/drugs/graffiti/detritus/brambles/nettles!

Is that definitely CCTV camera? I'd have thought ANPR on a busy road.

Thanks Strontium.

I had a wander down from the Croda gate to the Carpark gate this week. Not 100% sure as I dont know what is was like prev but the same signs of le cutting back was there on the allotment/houses side

In that sense I mean one and the same thing... it's an LE controlled camera I presume

That's the stretch with an unlocked barrier at the park end...

Didnt realise it was unlocked! Was suprised by the signs of fires/ life etc on the Croda side.

It’s an eerie feeling. But I do think it’s our mind playing tricks. The bench and proximity to spider cam was equally spooky viewing. But I guess all this is is moving images making what we’ve read more real. If we were told tomorrow that the spider cam cctv was not PR and that the park has nothing to do with the scene of a crime, I guess we’d view it differently again.

I would hope that the police have searched them - IIRC they searched the ones near Oak Road but not sure about the ones near Raglan. Surely there is some sort of list of people that own sheds/land in the allotments, so they'd know if he or someone he's close to has a space there and would have searched that ages ago. Even if he doesn't, I would think they'd have searched there anyway, but I'll try to find a link to MSM which mentions LE looking there - although I don't recall seeing anything off the top of my head.

Is there any chance you have a link to show when they searched the Oak Road/Clough Road allotments? I've not seen or read that they have, or the ones reached via Tavistock Street, very near to Raglan Street where PR lives.
Within this article

21 days of searching for Libby: Everything that has happened

there is a very detailed list / timeline of all the searches, police work etc with many pics from Friday 1st Feb to Friday 21st Feb with no mention of the allotments.
These allotments are huge with loads of out buildings and although they're fenced in and securely gated, indeed even, there is a sign to state cctv operates there but I don't think that rules out some perpetrator gaining access if they wanted to or someone terrified, somehow getting in and hiding there.
I personally can't shake them off until the police discount them.

Awesome work Strontium, a few notes I made in my head, but first of all LOL at the man wheeling a shopping trolley full of beer across Bev Road!

It seems like red brick house would indeed have a decent view of anyone running in the park. Hard to get a feel for how far away the terraced houses are but looks like they'd have a view, too. The trees are pretty bare thus not obstructing the view too much.

The river does not look like the kind you'd easily get swept away in. Also looks like there are lots of reeds that could help you out (though I assume these are boggy underfoot?). Needless to say the shock of cold could kill someone if they fell in, but I'm really swaying away from my initial feeling she was in the river.

A vehicle driving down the park end of Beresford would be pretty noticeable I think, at that time of night. Pretty sure I'd notice through traffic, especially at night (if awake, and assuming car headlights were on)

Very bare also between the bench and Haworth. Nowhere for anyone to hide / pounce.

To be fair, we haven’t been told spider cam is PR, nor that LS entered the Park that evening. Hmmm
