Could be wrong but unless they have evidence showing a clear struggle - ie. Libby forcibly put into car, then evidence of Libby being in the car (if it existed - we don’t know what forensics found) wouldn’t be enough to proceed with abduction charges. Libby could have entered car willingly and P. could be saying that he dropped her off somewhere and has no idea where she went after that.

I think this is exactly the situation the police are in so far.

Some really interesting points above. I'm not really knowledgeable on this sort of thing. I'm learning from you all.

The thing that makes me doubt it's PR is if he is such an opportunist and can't control his urges. He'd of left enough evidence to be charged for at least abduction.

He is an experienced burglar (if convicted of course) and burglary requires planning, observation, staking out, coolness under pressure

I have no doubt that he planned to abduct a girl that night, probably not for murder but certainly for rape and Libby was his opportunity. Sounds like he cruised around waiting for a girl to abduct and came across Libby.

If he planned and went out that night to abduct a girl then he will have planned everything to the last detail including how to dispose of her if the sex attack went wrong

That has been my feeling as well. That she presented an opportunity to carry out a plan he'd already had in his head. Whether that night or not (tho it was a student night in some clubs). AnAopportunist would have made mistakes and the police would have something by now. The things he had stolen a few days before are not things that are left in view they're things that take time to find or remove. Nor would you particularly expect to find them whereas every home has saleable laptops lying around.

Apologies if this has been discussed before.

I believe there is a late bus from the Welly to Haworth Arms bus stop on Saturday nights, just wondered whether this is also on a Thursday night too?

My thoughts are that LS and her friends could possibly use the bus home instead of taxis, getting off at Haworth Arms? If this was the case, then it does make some sense that if LS didn’t have a key, set off walking back to the Welly, decided too far to walk, sit down on the Bench and wait for any students she knows to get off the bus, as she knows they run each hour. This would of course not apply if there is a further stop nearer their digs! Just a thought!

If this were to be a possibility, I would be interested to know how long it takes in a bus from the Welly to Haworth Arms stop, then the short walk to the bench. (with the 11.38pm bus in mind)

That sounds a very logical explanation. If it's a student night it would make sense to put a bus on. It would make sense too wait there.

IMO most of the items he stole are commonplace amongst young/ female/ university age people - electrical equipment, underwear, condoms, even sex toys. Nothing out of the ordinary there and were probably opportunistic finds - ie. didn’t know exactly what he would find/ steal in the property but had probably scoped out who lived there

Yes but he was also charged with a previous burglary where he just stole vibrators. Electrical equipment is lying around sex toys aren't usually even in student house. And photos take time to remove from walls and notice boards. And underwear? They have no resale value and I doubt his wife would be Keen on second hand sex toys. Why waste time taking them

I agree. The obvious place to find sex toys is in bedside drawers/cupboards, and underwear is usually in bedroom drawers so quickly found.

IMO he wasn't interested in those items for their monetary value

That's a bit of a sweeping statement!
Do we even know whether the houses he robbed were occupied by students anyway?

Highly unlikely he burgled student let houses, one thing burglars don’t like is being disturbed and with student houses (4 or 5 to a house) and lectures at varying times there is a good chance he would be caught in the act

Less chance of being caught burgling a single occupancy house or one of a married couple who he would know from staking out the place that they work and leave/come back at set time

Im still not totally sure he did it. Psychologically its easier to understand killers like Sutcliffe who are apparently motivated by a hatred of women.
But PR, while i can see he was confident and easy at the relatively low level of offences he was committing , i dont see the obvious psychological motivation to murder , it could have been an accident or simply a pragmatic choice in the circumstances he found himself in, a choice that he, given his assumed disfunctional mental state , was psychologicaly equipped to undertake and adapt to. Or maybe, in the way people of a certain mentality (psychopaths if you like) get an enjoyment out of torturing and inflicting pain on dumb animals, PR always had it in him and escalated from observing and stealing to hands on and murder.
That said , lots of people have psychopathic tendencies and dont kill , they are savvy enough to consider the consequences and are deterred , so its quite bizaare why PR would totally screw his life up like this. It dosnt logically make sense to me , i cant understand it. It would make more sense if he hadnt made it so easy for the police to trace him but he did it on cctv.
I mean whats his motive for murder ?

According to the Stage Coach app, there are 8 buses from 22:51 until 23:56. No late night buses. There isn't another one until 4:39 Friday morning.

Because he is a raging pervert and likes to take trophies...I heard he likes leaving things at scenes also, which is just beyond disgusting.

The voyeurism charge is the one that gets me, its so creepy.

I agree and one thing that needs to be considered is he is good at stealth and calmness. He'd broken into a house three days before and been sure enough of himself to spend time removing photos and hunting for sex toys rathet than just grabbing high value easy to find items like lap tops and getting out. He knew enough about the occupants to be sure of finding stuff like that and that he wouldn't be disturbed. He's also been charged with 2 or 3 counts of voyeurism that span years and is likely to have committed the 26th December charge that was dropped. So it's probably safe to assume he has got away with it many times before. But if he'd got something of Libby's they'd have charged him I think.

So has he got somewhere else for temporary store of stuff. The police were on it and looking by Friday morning and he was apparently washing his car - in freezing -5 weather. Where else could he have got before 3am

I'm not aware of the washing of his car on Friday morning in minus 5 weather. Is there a link?
