It makes me sick that these 2 sentences are allowed to run concurrently. The justice system is so broken at times.

27 years doesn't seem long enough, if he gets out he'll still be young enough to start a new life. Libby had much much longer ahead of her, hopefully he will never be deemed fit to be released. JMO

Agree! JMO

I think concurrent sentences are ridiculous. Pointless.
I was just about to say that! I guess it’s for documenting both offences or something.. but yeah, I wish they could be consecutive instead!

Concurrent sentencing certainly offers little discouragement for a rapist to kill his victim.

Judge praises Libby's family and the police.

Justice Lambert has paid tribute to the “quiet dignity” of Libby’s parents throughout the trial.

She has also thanked DC James Grandidge.

She said: “I would also like to mention Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley, Det Supt Phil Gadd and the officer in the case Paul Walker.

“There are others, Martin Berry, Patty Davies, Nicola Taylor, Det Insp Nicola Elliott, and police constable Ruth Campion.”

She has thanked the jury for coming back for the sentencing.

I agree. Not long enough at all. Adding the rape sentence as concurrent means he really serves nothing for this crime.

It feels very unfair, like only one punishment for several crimes. JMO

Am i the only one disappointed? He will be 53 when we can apply for parole... and he might just be a quiet prisoner.

I know it is a long time away but would Libby’s family be able to attend the parole hearing and give a statement?
