Bless you @Loobyloo for highlighting this. My brother has been a volunteer on the crews off the Northumberland coast for more than 25 years and I know there is lots he wishes he could unsee. I remember when Libby's body was found that someone suggested donations to RNLI and I was so grateful for that. Was it joolz? Really am going to sleep now. Early start. Thanks for the shout out to the lifeboat guys. Loobyloo I don't know why this didn't come up as a reply to your post. I clicked on post reply but something went wrong. Probably me that went wrong. Beyond tired now.

Sorry.
I cannot remember who suggested it either but a bunch of us donated! Everyone here has just been amazing. From donations, contacting the soil expert Patricia Wiltshire, flowers on Libby’s bench. And I think it was @strondiun69 who printing a few pages of our post here and put them with flowers on Libby’s bench, when she was found I believe. I am so grateful to all of you amazing WS folks!

For anybody that is still interested, I timed my journey from just outside of the gate to the area of the river nearest the pond and boatshed. Walking along the path at my usual pace, which I'll call 'efficient', but dodging an array of puddles, mud and dog walkers, it took me 4 minutes and 10 seconds. I didn't try to run it, but I suspect that would at least cut the time in half. No problem.

Thank you for that. I think the time was sufficient enough for the judge as well as the jury. Good to know they are right. Jmo

I love that you walk efficiently, @Vermont24 :)

I find for me a purposeful brisk walk is around 9-10 mins per km

Jogging is around 4.30-5 mins per km

fast run sustained over say 250 m is more like 4 mins per km or less

So the distance is probably only 2mins if running - and 4 if walking

he may well have mixed it up

I haven't seen any information relating to how/why/when and by whom PR's sentence for his previous crimes was so drastically reduced?
Does this mean that the judge in that case was somehow wrong, or made a mistake?
The fact that he pled guilty was already taken into account as a mitigating factor, so I wonder what else has since been taken into account?

I'd like to know that as well. Why did a judge think women being stalked, burgled and terrified by a deviant warranted a reduction in his sentence? JMO

Possibly one of the sentences was changed from consecutive to concurrent. We did think it was unusual for them to be consecutive.

  • #510
Looks as though it was reduced by one third from the original sentence

8 yrs 6 months.. 102 months

5 yrs 8 months. 68 months

I've always thought VOLUNTARY chemical castration and counselling could be offered to sex offenders in return for a shorter sentence? Helps partially solve the shortage of prison space and cuts the chance of reoffending?

Chemical castration gets rid of the urge though?? I've no idea.

Just wanted to say I do believe Libby & her family got the justice she deserved. Her mum has been so brave and stoic throughout. PR was clearly escalating and if he hadn't of been caught now I do believe he would've attacked again because he just could not control those urges (and neither did he want to). Also thank you to everyone in the thread for their valuable thoughts and inputs, the court reports, media articles, photos, etc. we may not have all agreed at times but hearing someone else's viewpoint really helped build a picture of the truth and what most likely happened (for me anyway). Thank you also to those of you who have offered to take flowers, it's a very thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. It's been a long 2 years and I know for many of us Libby is what brought us to WS so I just wanted to give a quick brief mention about another young girl who went missing 2 years ago the same time Libby did. Leah Croucher, she was walking to work and just seemingly vanished without a trace! It was the 2 year anniversary of her disappearance yesterday and the police have released a number of appeals and some new CCTV footage not seen before. Her poor family 2 years on still have no answers and her brother was so tortured by it he very sadly committed suicide. Anyway, her thread has some new websleuthers recently (some local) who are injecting new life into her thread and coming up with some really thought provoking ideas/theories and I really think some of you on this thread could give some great different viewpoints like we did with this case, (I do believe some you should be working for the FBI). Apologies, I don't know how to link another thread here but I look forward to interacting with you all again at some point on other threads/cases. Take care all.

RIP Libby x

The case of Leah Croucher is head-scratching and nightmarish for those close to her. It's difficult to fathom that someone can disappear without a trace in this age, yet they do. It's also very sad that the father of Claudia Lawrence died earlier this week without answers. That seems to be another case which will likely go forever unsolved.

Very sad news about Claudia's father. In that case it does seem as if the police do know who is involved but do not have enough evidence to prove it.

In Leah's case it seems as if the police are not willing to investigate the one person who might have more information about her.
