why still no Facebook group organising a mass walking group searching the park ? This is always one of the first things I see the local community organising in cases like these .

Welcome, Mbamba! That's awful your friend wasn't found despite searches in the right area, seems to happen all too often. Have you checked if we have a thread here?

PS - I’ve just searched for my friend and can see loads of threads about him on here. Too upsetting to read obviously!! But funny/strange/lovely to see so many people thinking about him. Hope LR’s family find comfort in this too.

From what I’ve gathered on Facebook, most people believe she’s been trafficked out of Hull, or has been swept out into the Humber.

Hey, thanks. My friend was found but it took nearly 4 weeks to find him. With my friend’s situation we had evidence that he had probably taken his own life so we knew we were searching for a body. It just took soo long to find him despite 100s of public searching plus police. That’s why I can relate to the idea that LS might still be nearby /in the park.

Sorry about your friend and I do agree with you that it is much harder to find a body than people realize so I would not be surprised if she is still nearby the park area or somewhere fairly close by. Especially if P was involved and took steps to conceal her body.

In the video tours of the park there sure looked like plenty of places a body could remain hidden for quite some time. Especially if under muddy water or in the brambles. There was some wooden steps shown in one of the videos near the pond and I even thought someone could have shoved her under those steps and nobody would be the wiser.

I tend to think she is closer to the road and houses though as I dont think P would drag her that far if he parked near the entrances.
If we knew where he parked with her if he had her then that would help out a lot. The problem we have is we dont know where he took her and parked if he had her with him.

One reason bodies are so difficult to spot when in woods or bramble debri is the color of a body tends to match the surroundings over time so unless some bright clothing is left on a body then it tends to blend in with the surroundings. Ive seen numerous Forensic Files episodes where they show actual footage of bodies being recovered and more often than not I have to do a double take and really look hard at the screen to make out that I am actually seeing a part of a body in with the woods debri. If a body has been there for any length of time then it starts to look the same colors of the surroundings.

Plus when searching your mind just cannot hardly process what you are seeing because its not like we ever want to see a body and we tend to just scan on by. It takes very careful looking and knowing what to look for when searching.

Also most people when searching go way way too fast when looking. They scan over things way too quickly. A SAR person once said it is good to only take 3 or 4 steps and then look in all directions and count to 30 while looking all around 360 degrees before moving another 3 or 4 steps. Every few steps you take will change your entire view of things and what you can see under and around things. Human nature makes us search way too quickly. We keep wanting to look at new places and we tend not to stay long enough in any given spot to really look close enough.

This is why a lot of times a body is found in a place that has already been searched.

I’m surprised this hasn’t happened too. It seems the park covers such a huge area, can’t help thinking back to the Susan McLean case where LE were so close yet so far and it was searches organised by friends, locals and via this site that eventually lead to her being found.
I’m really consumed by this case, it’s so terribly sad for her parents not having the answers. I am constantly checking for the word that she’s been located. I sincerely hope she is found soon.

Just intrigued. I’m about half an hour from Hull, live in a small rural village. I’ve noticed fairly often, birds circling in the sky, often by the woods, checked once and saw a decaying deer. Would that not happen with human bodies, would the birds not smell a corpse/recently deceased ? It’s been discussed that tthere’s a fair bit of wildlife in the parks, well foxes have been mentioned OFTEN! I’d be grateful if you clever people could enlighten me, as I’m finding I’m driving around looking out for the vultures!

I feel the same as most people on here, I am constantly checking and hoping upon hope for a miracle but as time goes on I am hoping for the ‘best’ worst scenario for her parents it’s a horrible way too feel.

I have a similar personal experience. My friend went missing for 3.5 weeks before his body was found and it was found less than a mile away from his home, in an area that we and police had searched many times. To this day I just don’t know how we didn’t find him for so long but we didn’t - so I do truly believe she could be in the park still but just not found yet. This certainly happened with my friend, and there were 100s of people searching for him.

Also when my friend went missing, the police would only search in the area between his house and his last citing on cctv (less than a mile away from his home). They refused to search further than this until they had reason to (eg cctv). Their reason for this was because they need evidence to search further otherwise it becomes a needle in a haystack situation. For example, in my friend’s base, they wouldn’t search near his work as there was no evidence that he was that far away, and therefore not a good use of resources to widen the search that far. The were right too! Therefore, I believe that the LE will not search further than the park unless they have evidence that L could be further away. They obviously don’t have any.

One more thing - If that cctv is L getting into P’s car - why would he do that right in front of a camera? He obviously a) doesn’t care because he was genuinely just trying to help her b) doesn’t realise c) doesn’t care because he’s arrogant?!

Sorry for the long post!!!

Gosh I'm really sorry to hear you went through something like that!

The gates were closed, and the camera isn't obvious, it's well back from the road, I think most likely he didn't know it was there.

3:20 Is the spot where he parked showing the gates and the CCTV camera; albeit during the day with the gates open.

This was one of my thoughts but didn't want to say it. I also thought that maybe there would be an unusual amount of bird activity and noise (crows maybe).

Edit - as this is a popular place for dog walkers (presumably mostly regulars) surely they would notice this. Also how likely is it that a dog off its lead would be able to smell something unusual and seek it out?

If a body is totally submerged in any water then that would minimize any odors. Additionally if a body has been buried deep enough in dirt then that would also minimize odors.

I do agree if a body was just like put under leaves or something then there would be a strong foul odor and sometimes carion birds like vultures or crows may congregate nearby but that is not always guaranteed to have birds circling over head. We live out in country and I had killed a snake once and threw it in the woods and when I went near the area I could smell the odor of the decaying snake and I expected to see crows at some point but never did see any. I think a possum or skunk finally came and took the snake away to eat it because it disappeared within about 3 days.

So it really just depends. I am not sure what types of carion birds would be near that city park. We have heard many people here say there are foxes nearby so they could disturb a burial and drag out bones or parts of a body to other places so that is possible too. But again if buried good enough or in water then probably not as likely.

And of course the wind can make a difference if people are out searching and expecting to use their sense of smell to help find a body. If a strong wind in one direction then you have to be downwind to be able to smell the decay.
Being upwind you will not be able to smell anything unless really close.

Gosh, I feel emotional watching this one. Thinks it’s just because we actually know Libby was there, so awful and terribly saddening.

Thank you for your reply! Think they are big black birds circling that I often see.

I’d be no good searching, police came to my house, said my bush smelt of cannabis! They asked if they could search my house and asked me if I was growing it? The only things I was growing was a box of kittens as local Tom cat had snook in thru the catflap and tampered with my young feline. The police took me outside to sniff my bush, I couldn’t smell a thing!

Haha! I doubt I’ll be at the next hearing. It was so embarrassing when the security guard asked if I was family/friend or reporter and I had the tell them I was just being nosey. I could tell by his face that he thought I was a bit weird, although their was a handful of other members of the public in the courtroom.

I expected him to come out looking like an exhausted, nervous wreck, but was quite shocked at how calm and collected he was. The police must have really had their work cut out in that interview room.

Well that is very interesting indeeed re his demeanor.

You were allowed in, you are the public.

Off topic - but how could you not smell anything. Not saying it was cannabis you were growing but I can smell it a mile off. It's an awfully strong smell

Cressida Dick (Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police) is famed for not being able to smell Cannabis at all

I don’t know but I’m not going down the route of; two people involved , a second car , people trafficking, pig farm , held hostage , secret room , empty second house, family involved . To be honest I just feel she’s in water so many are when it’s close by , I’m still not convinced he killed her though either . But that’s just my opinion and I know nothing....

Yep I agree with all the above and have said this from the beginning.
