Without any further information it's impossible to work out if he targeted his victims or if it was just pure chance.

If he targeted them it seems like a major piece of luck that they all left a door or window open.

It's more likely he was doing what most opportunist burglars do, try every door or window until you find one that's open. I would not be surprised if a lot more houses have been visited. Not everyone would want to report a sex toy being taken and many would not notice if a few bits and pieces went astray, cash etc. (especially in a shared house).

I think it would be a real stretch/risk for a prosecutor to try to build this into something more than petty burglary. Especially if he gets the violins out about his paraphilia.

I can imagine an opportunist with a bit of a fetish being overjoyed to find pants and sex toys in a hunt for jewelry and bank statements. But I can't imagine an opportunist taking the time to remove photos. It doesn't feel normal

I've never heard them use trespass when discussing a burglary before. Although it clearly is trespassing, I've not heard it used in a burglary charge. That doesn't mean to say it doesn't happen

It's an odd distinction. I'd hazard a guess that everybody locks their doors these days. So would climbing through an open window move it to trespass? Very common in summer.

The last offence was in January where nobody would open a window whilst they were out tho. What else could constitute them using trespass?

It puzzles me how students can afford to get so drunk. Maybe they don't eat very much or properly and prefer to spend more on alcohol than food.

By drinking before they go out to avoid the prices in clubs. Cheap supermarket alcohol. To be fair thats what happened in my day as well. Tho also to be fair the little darlings are supposed to be spending it on food,

There is a good reason that the Police were so keen to find the 4 people highlighted in the Feb 19th CCTV.

Suppose 3 out of 4 people came forward but the one in a distinctive colour top didn’t, maybe that would be grounds for a new search warrant, particularly if LE thought they’d seen a similar coloured garment on the previous visit?

ETA perhaps the most recent searches of gardens backing on to park for clothing were to exclude such a garment being dumped?

Very lucky for him. It would be very interesting to know whether he grabbed every single saleable item on view in his burglaries, as an ordinary opportunist would, or whether he struck very lucky with his fetish items and got out quickly? We'll never know that tho.

I wondered about keys a while back.

None of these house look particularly secluded so you would think, however he got in was pretty subtle...otherwise he may have been spotted (climbing through a window for example). I know if anyone was spotted climbing through my window Hetty Wainthrop over the road would be on to 101 immediately (Maybe not every street has nosey neighbours like mine). Any may be not every street is as busy or well lit either.

Also if some of these were student housing maybe the individual bedrooms would have locks on, how has he got around that? I've never lived in shared accommodation but if I did I'd lock my own door when I went out.

It's an interesting puzzle. Newlands avenue is very busy.

I guess if it were a student house you'd trust your housemates, you'd have known them for at least year, they'd be friends etc. So maybe not internal doors during term tine.

But I think the combination of nagging parents and insurance not paying out would encourage most to lock all external doors IMO.

My daughter has lived in two student houses and they've had to have a lot of repairs (leaking roofs, mice etc). So I'd guess a lot of folk get access to keys for HMO. They're also not always brilliantly or speedily maintained.

Was thinking more of his suspected/possible tendency to appear at windows and doorways/doorsteps and leave something rather than take something.

I guess youre correct though and it applies to the actual burglaries.

I remember a club in the town where I live charging £10 for entry but all drinks were free....oh the states everyone used to get in.

Yeah I think it's a fiver to get into Welly, as for pre drinking though I think most youngesters will do this regardless if they are going to a house party, pub, club..... Just makes the night that bit cheaper. When I was younger we would smuggle some vodka or something in with us, but in the days of being searched it doesn't happen as much, especially at clubs.

Can someone tell me, if PR is found not guilty on the 11th or even guilty but with time being already served and he hops on the next flight to Poland, what will then happen in the case of any new evidence after this that points to him? What will the implications of him being in Poland be?

Not much will happen Monday, if he is still pleading not guilty a date will be set for trial.

If he changes his plea to guilty I'm thinking they may set a date for sentencing (unless they do it there and then...not sure about this bit).

I mentioned yesterday if I was him I'd plead guilty and hope for a lenient sentence then as soon as released I'd be back to Poland before they get anything else on me.

Not sure how they stand if they don't bring further charges and he has served his time for the offences he has already been charged with....I'm assuming (big assumption) that he could leave the country and there isn't a thing that could be done (unless it can be made a condition of his release that he can't leave not sure...someone will though)
