Such a terrible act of cruelty.

Something I found interesting (for lack of a better word) is that the accused Lewis Haines had a relative named Michaela Haines who died on 23rd December 2017. She was found hanged with traces of date rape drugs in her system. The police closed the case as non-suspicious but her family believe it was murder and therefore unsolved. Two young women, found dead in the days leading up to Christmas, one strangled and one hanged. JMO - could there be a link between these deaths via Lewis Haines? Probably not, but I do hope Michaela's death may be reinvestigated as a result.

His Facebook account - seems fairly open at the mo. I imagine it may get locked down?

Some interesting comments about his past behaviour (and about him having multiple facebook accounts) and if you search his name on facebook there is a post about a previous crime he committed.

This poor woman. He sounds like he's always been a piece of work.

What previous crime? Can you post a screenshot?

He looks very much like the guy who was charged with murdering Bobbi Mcleod.

I did get the sense on opening his Facebook photos that he has those dead narcissist eyes that so many convicted rapists/murderers have.

A date has been set for the trial of the man accused of murdering teenager Lily Sullivan.

The 31-year-old appeared in the dock of Swansea Crown Court on January 14 via videolink from Swansea Prison for a plea and trial preparation hearing. No plea to the charge was entered, and a provisional trial date of June 13 was set.

A man strangled a woman in frustration that she did not want to have sex with him, a judge has found.
The body of Lily Sullivan was found in Mill Pond, Pembroke, in the early hours of Friday 17 December.
In June, Lewis Haines, 31, admitted murder but his defence said it was not sexually motivated.

Although Haines, of Flemish Court, Lamphey, Pembrokeshire, automatically gets sentenced to life for murder, the special hearing was needed to allow the prosecution and defence to submit their case as to whether the murder was sexually motivated.

Lily Sullivan, 18, walks down street with killer moments before he strangled her and dumped her body - then ran away from the crime scene right past his victim's mother

A 31-year-old man who brutally murdered a teenage student after she turned down his sexual advances has been jailed for life with a minimum of 23 years.

Not long enough at all, IMO. I just hope he doesn't get let out right away once the 23 years is up.

This sentence seems on the low side to me even with the guilty plea and the details of whether or not sexual motivation was involved are coming across as muddled to me. I think it is unduly lenient in the round and should be appealed by the authorities, and would be increased on that appeal closer to 30 years’ minimum. I have seen a couple of the judge’s remarks quoted that I don’t like the look of and if it is possible for this minimum term to be challenged then I would expect it to be.
