I just watched this and I think she contradicted herself. She said he never left her side but she also said he left to put balloons up.

IIRC she said he left her side for a minute or two when they were at the stables. Nowhere near long enough for him to have driven to Kent and back.

Bellfield's ex said she thought he got rid of the car around March 1996, and got an insurance payout. I haven't seen this verified anywhere though. If he claimed insurance, there should be a record somewhere of the payout.
The MIB administers the UK claims database which started in the mid 1990s, but whether the records have been kept that far back and whether his insurer was a member at that time is another matter. But that would be the starting point.

Not sure how new it is.

Lin and Megan Russell’s murders were two of the UK's most brutal. Now, as the Mail launches The CRIME DESK, we exclusively reveal it's being reinvestigated after 30 years - with an already notorious killer in the frame…

Interesting article. Stone is also being represented by a certain Mark McDonald???

the CCRC are once again looking into his case, I have always felt he was wrongly convicted, and there must be something inherently wrong with this case that he keeps getting chances after all these years to challenge his conviction

Also, he keeps asking for stuff to be tested, which he is unlikely to do if he is guilty.

I'm going to track down Fraser's book a.s.a.p., maybe Russells, but I'm not too sure about relatives ability to keep a clear head...might read it, but I think it will have a whole load of opinions and reminiscences which will bulk the book out. Besides, it's a little unseemly to me that he should feel the need to write a book about the murder of his wife and child, I suppose even professors fall on hard times.

To comment on this: the book by Russell is about his daughter and her recovery but also a tribute to his wife and younger daughter. You may find it "unseemly" but it is a beautiful read and hopefully will have been part of his recovery from losing two members of his family and nearly the third. If anything is "unseemly" it's this (very old) post.

I think that’s my interpretation of it too though I suppose you could perceive it as a desperate roll of the dice - if they find his DNA, well, he’s already doing life anyway, so he’s nothing to lose at this point. Whatever happens it’ll be really interesting to see what, if anything, the new tests reveal.

Not familiar with that name, does he have history?

Lawyer for Lucy Letby....

I remember this case growing up but more for TV/Press documenting Josie's recovery in the following years (she now lives in Wales and is an artist).

Just a thoroughly despicable and evil crime whoever did it. Stone feels a bit like Barry George here. Evidence dosen't state he did it. However previous suggests he could've done it etc.

I also agree a few pages back the police will be in no rush whatsoever to do anything which corresponds with the timeline of events on this thread.

Mark McDonald is perhaps the leading barrister specialising in cases of possible wrongful criminal convictions so it is not surprising that he handles these cases. If anything the Letby case smells even more than this one.
