I can’t believe she was just snatched off the street so I’ve got the impression she entered somewhere of her own accord. The pub would be likely and apparently was under new management in July.

I'm local to this and drove past the Whitakers Arms yesterday at around lunchtime. The car park was blocked off using empty beer barrels although I did think this could just be to stop people noseying around. The only police car I saw at this time was parked directly outside the Whitakers arms also. Police searches have been taking place in the wooded area to the rear in the last week also.

I think that the Whitakers Arms is where Lindsay was killed. I think this young lad could have been doing some manual work in the pub while it was closed - maybe even left on his own to sweep up? Somehow he has persuaded Lindsay inside the pub and attacked her there?

The pub is located just after Lindsay was last seen on CCTV and it fits in with absolutely no sign of her anywhere after this.

Based on the last cctv image of Lindsay (red dot) and the one of the boy dragging the bin (blue dot) and taking into account the direction they are both travelling in, it seems that something happened in the area in between. Plus the boy is walking down hill to access the side gate of the cemetery. There are a few houses but also some side tracks with lots of outbuildings.

I’m sure the area/ place police searched with the bright blue tinny? looking roof is behind the exact house that caught her in cctv at your red dot opp. Cemetery entrance so I agree.

ETA just checked and is more behind the lane to the side of the Pub

This is excellent thank you. Visuals always really help me. Bearing in mind the activity helpfully mentioned by locals seen behind the pub towards the coppice. It seems likely she walked down the side lane there and as it looks secluded on google maps with lots of shrubbery etc I think this is where an altercation took place. Why she was walking down there does interest me too but may be totally irrelevant. JMO

That’s a really helpful pic, many thanks

It’s possible IMO that the pub was a one she had visited before and the fact it was undergoing a refurb that she was curious and innocently went in to the car park to take a look at what was taking place and sadly met foul play....wrong place wrong time .MOO

Wasn't she actually last seen on CCTV a little earlier (in front of the house on the left of my pic from Google Maps)? There's an alley between that and the next house. The pub is in on the right on the pic.

ETA: A pic of the alley. I think I've seen pics of police searching the garden of the house to the right of the alley (pic from the Daily Mail article).

Yes you can cut up between the Whittaker’s pub and Hillside funeral directors on a dirt path (unmade road). It’s her likely route if she was going for a walk around the coppice. There’s garages and allotments down that route and it is relatively secluded but at 4:10pm on a Monday there would have undoubtedly been other people about

Great picture. So possibly something happened to Lindsay behind the pub rather than in it? A prearranged meeting at this particular spot?

I also feel the pub or land immediately surrounding it is where this crime occurred
I feel she was hidden there or very near and taken nearer the deposition site in a bin or bins , then left in the area till it was secluded or dark enough to try and hide
From the pub area the side street down to cemetery is pretty much just across a main road
Still not convinced someone else was not present at the time or that someone helped him to a degree
It's how and why she ended up with the suspect( if so ) that's puzzling

Highly possible IMO. I’m not from Accrington but I know this area a little bit and I can’t help feeling really sad that she actually now seems to have disappeared off the street very soon after the cctv cam.
I’m trying to see if there’s any access to the Coppice up behind the pub - like any shortcuts only local locals know exist

Could well be but I seem to remember from early info released that she was expecting her daughter for tea at 6pm. Whether this is true would need to be substantiated with a link. So it would seem strange timing to nip out for a wander, altho it was just under 2 hours so maybe so.

The other thing I find odd. I'm south UK and it does surprise me how much our weather varies but I haven't worn a jacket in months. If you were popping to the shop or to see a friend at their home in August would you wear a puffa kind of jacket?

If however you were going into shady wooded areas you might know you'd feel a chill.

Any locals help me out with August weather up there?

All MOO.

(I dont normally go overboard with the MOOs but I think it will help this thread tick along if we do)

Whittaker’s car park would be a good place to meet someone away from prying eyes, especially with it being closed, as it’s got quite a substantial car park that isn’t over looked

I thought the picture with the railings comes a few houses before the house with the circle of flowers in the lawn. She seems to be walking downhill with the road on her right and houses on left (towards the pub).

I agree that this is a possibility but if this happened on the day Lindsay was last seen how is the boy then spotted dragging the bin five days later? And when DID a bin appear in the graveyard? Would the subject realistically then just carry on as normal, dragging another bin round the area days later?DID

Interesting info that the pub was under refurb at the time - does anyone know what company was carrying out the works?

ETA apologies, the quote won't attach for some reason :(

Yes there is a well known cut through everyone uses by the side of the pub

Weather has been mixed up here, had a lot of rain and temp wise it’s not been that great at times. So a jacket wouldn’t be a bad idea particularly late afternoon if it’s not been great weather wise so nothing unusual I’d say
