A community search is about to take place at The Coppice in #Accrington for missing Lindsay Birbeck.

Police @LancsPolice say they are still keen to trace a dog walker who they believe was in the Peel Park Avenue area between 4-5pm on August 12 and may have seen missing mother, Lindsay Birbeck

The search continues this evening for Lindsay Birbeck who has now been missing for over a week.



Underwater searches are now taking place close to The Coppice in #Accrington.

Locals, is this coppice area the kind of place people come to walk dogs from out of town? Ie the kind of place you might only walk your dog a few times a year? Or is it more of a locals dog walking kind of place?

Or maybe departed on holiday that night or shortly after so isn’t - or isn’t able to- follow local news whilst away is one possibility.
That said if my friends knew it might poss be me and I was on holiday I’d like to think someone would message me / get in touch.

Sorry to reply so late. Yes, that is where Lindsay was heading. I'm wondering if she was cutting through the park to go into town

Oh, and yes, I am local. I live in Accrington. This is the town I was referring to in my last post. It's got shops & supermarkets

I came on to see if there was a thread for Lindsay. I am a lurker usually on threads and don’t post but I live in this area. There doesn’t seem to be much info available at the moment - was she out for a walk? What was her mental state lately? Any problems at home? I know they’ve said this is out of character. Just doesn’t seem much to go on. A lot of searching seems to be focused on the wooded area she was last seen near - The Coppice?

I wondered if she was walking through the The Coppice into town. The town being Accrington

Hmmm. Yeah it sounds like they really just don’t know. They said they have no evidence of foul play, but it sounds like they don’t have any evidence against it either.
Does anyone know what that area is like? It was a public park area? Generally safe?

Nice park but Accrington is a really socially deprived town, and, as a result I'm unsure how safe it is. It's a place where something could potentially 'go off' at any time. Not saying that it does but that it could

I would say it's more if a locals walking their dogs kind of place than a visitors from out of town park

The more I think about this, the more it makes no sense. She had been shopping with her daughter that morning, and her daughter was due to come round for tea at 6pm. No reported mental health issues. All the main paths round the woodland areas have been searched. Surely she couldn’t have gone far, even if she’s slipped and had an accident.

I completely agree with you. I'm trying to figure out why Lindsay would be walking through The Coppice (and possibly to Accrington) late in the day when her daughter was coming for tea at 6pm? Especially as they had been out shopping that morning

there are houses at the back of the coppice, going to see someone?

facebook selling site.....buying something?
friend or acquaintance who lives round there?
man she was seeing? or woman, whatever
was she wearing a fitbit? into fitness and increasing daily steps?

knowing more about her life would help but theres zero info out there...did she drive?
