Coastguard and search and rescue teams are trying to find a woman reported missing in the Par area.
Lorna Bartlett, of Bugle, has not been seen by family and friends since Saturday (February 19) and today her car was located at Spit Beach Car Park, on Par Moor Road, near St Austell.
The 62-year-old's son is asking for help from the public saying it's very "out of character" for her to have travelled to that beach alone and police have confirmed they are conducting a missing person search in the area.
The RNLI lifeboat launched from Fowey just after 7pm and it's believed to be connected.
Natalie Dunphy posted to Facebook expressing concern for her missing neighbour.
She said: "If any of my friends have seen my neighbour Lorna please let me know, she hasn't been seen since Saturday and her car has been found at Spit Beach. Lorna's family are very worried about her, as are we. Please share."
Arron Bartlett, Lorna's son, has also asked CornwallLive to share an appeal for information on whether anyone has seen her and confirmed that the police have opened a missing person's case.
Former colleague Katie Devonport is also concerned for her friend saying she hasn't been seen since Saturday at the beach, at which time stormy weather was still grappling the county.
She said police and the coastguard were currently out searching.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed that there is an ongoing missing person search in the area but that it is in the "early stages" of investigation.
If anyone has any information they can call police on 111 quoting log number 523.
